Hello,
So here’s the thing, I installed Photoshop CC instead of CS6.
But I have a little problem:
Here’s what I did:
1/ I created a layer
2/ I selected a rectangular part with the rectangle selection tool (M).
3/ I filled it with black using the paint bucket.
I want the black to cover the entire selection, but there’s a gradient that I don’t want.

Also, when I make a selection (with the selection tool), it doesn’t make a square; the corners are “imperfect” (screenshot: http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2015/03/28/150328121226461694.jpg)

I want the black to cover the entire selection
the filling of a selection is never really clean
if you want a perfect shape, create it with the rectangle shape tool
that's not making a square
I haven't adopted CC yet so I can't help you with that but there must be settings to adjust in the options bar

There is no tolerance for a rectangular selection
Photoshop CC or not, there is no option to make your pretend cross a rectangle, it will be a rectangle or a square
If you have a feathered edge on top, it will make a rectangle with rounded corners but not this
The fill of a rectangular selection is as sharp as that of a shape
There is no need to restart to make the change in the options
Moreover, all options are set to zero by default, especially on a "brand new" Photoshop that you just "installed"
All this from a Photoshop pro since Mister used to have the means to get CS6 but it wasn't good enough to draw black rectangles, it seems...
Anyway, instead of making fools of us, go complain to Emir el Warez where you didn't buy it

With the rectangle tool, it works very well.
To remove the gradient, I found the solution: I had to set the tolerance to 0 and restart PhotoShop.
For the selection, I also found: I had to set the feather to 0px and restart PhotoShop.
(Before posting, I had done these actions but I hadn't restarted PhotoShop because I thought PhotoShop changed these functions automatically, without needing to restart it).
