Mouse wheel issue under Photoshop.

Hello,
Back in Photoshop CS3 the mouse wheel was used for zooming. And here, for some reason I don’t know why, it doesn’t work anymore. In short, it zooms but when the scrollbar appears on the side of the window it no longer handles zoom but moves the scrollbar up or down. I already tried unchecking and rechecking "zoom with the wheel" in Preferences -> General, but that changes nothing.
Help please.
