Internal to external hard drive issue

Hello, I would like to transfer data from an internal hard drive to another PC.
So I bought a casing that allows me to insert my internal hard drive as an external one (the as2105 from Boulanger).
However, when I connect the casing, my hard drive is not recognized by my computer running Windows 8.1. But the casing is recognized in the devices!
By the way, I don't know if it's normal, but the LED keeps blinking...

What can I do to fix this?
Could the problem come from my hard drive?

Thank you very much

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 40.0.2214.111

    Hello,

First of all, what are the characteristics of the enclosure? What is the maximum capacity it supports, as well as the capacity of your internal hard drive? Is the drive properly recognized internally? As for the blinking LED, have you thought about checking the enclosure’s documentation?

If I understand correctly, when the drive is in the enclosure, it doesn't appear anywhere - Computer, Disk Management, Device Manager, BIOS? Have you tried to see if the drive works on another port and on another computer?

    Best regards,

If you have found the answer to your question, please feel free to mark the topic as resolved, this could help others who are facing the same issue :)

Hello, thank you for your response.

This enclosure allows you to connect an internal hard drive externally in order to retrieve data... It can hold all 2.5" hard drives. So it meets my needs well.
Speaking of the documentation, let's not kid ourselves, it's garbage...
There's nothing in it except how to connect it....

I tried connecting it to another port as well as to another computer, but it's always the same...
The hard drive does not appear in the file explorer, nor in disk management, nor in device manager, nor in the BIOS...

However, the disk reader (the as2105) is recognized in the device manager..

      Best regards.

Thank you for all these details, V2708!
It is possible that the enclosure is causing the problem, but the same goes for the drive, especially if it has already had issues...
+1 for the druid and his advice! The best thing would be to connect the drive directly to the motherboard. I hope it works!
If it is recognized, you could possibly check its integrity using the manufacturer's software or a third-party software: https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/39851-disque-dur-etat-de-sante-et-garantie
        I'm crossing my fingers!

    Hi,

type as2105 in Google and you'll see the number of people who have issues with this box.

Return it to Boulanger and get a more reliable box.

      Hello,
I have already searched, without finding a solution to my problem, so I came to the forum :)

Otherwise, I'm open to giving feedback, but it was the only box available for sale...

    Hello,
Just to clarify, I bought this enclosure to recover my data from a hard drive that had some small issues...
I also think that it could be related to that.

When my HDD was connected to my computer, I couldn't get past the manufacturer's screen. I was therefore advised to recover my data using an enclosure of this kind and then restore it...

But the problem is that previously I was on a dual boot of Windows 7/Ubuntu. I wanted to uninstall Ubuntu since I wasn't using it anymore. On another forum dedicated to Ubuntu, I was advised to delete the partition. This would have had the effect of affecting the system files.
I'll skip the lengthy process I went through which worked but not for long :( ! ( rebooting with a Ubuntu USB stick and all that...)

So I return to the issue of being unable to get past the ASUS manufacturer's startup screen.

Would it be worth opening a new topic about this?

    Thank you
    Have a nice evening!

P.S.: If the problems persist, I'll eventually go see a professional :)

you can remove this hard drive from its casing and connect it directly inside a desktop PC, which allows you to see if it is recognized.

Why don’t you connect your two hard drives internally and copy directly?
