IPHONE Can't see photos on my PC

Hello,

Until now, I used to retrieve my photos taken with my IPHONE by connecting it to my PC (XP) where they appeared in an external drive clearly...
Since the latest iOS update or the replacement of my IPHONE 4 with an iPhone 5, the photos are stored with an AAE extension. (It seems that this file contains metadata specific to Apple’s photo processing...)
Today, I can only see "small frames" corresponding to the AAE files... And I no longer have access to the photos.
However, this only happens with the iPhone and not with the tablet (same OS)
Does anyone have a clue, a setting to make my photos appear again?
Thank you.

I have a solution, not necessarily practical when you have tons of photos to transfer, but here it is...

I send them to myself by email; they are automatically converted to JPEG when I receive them in my inbox. All I have to do is download them!

I hope this can help ;)

Hello,
Don't panic, the problem is relatively simple once you know it!

Originally, the iPhone or iPad takes photos in JPEG format.
When modifying one on the iPhone or iPad, the original photo remains unchanged, and the modifications (whatever they may be) are saved in a parallel AAE file, which will be combined with the JPEG file, as long as the processing is done on Apple IOS.
This method allows you to recover the original file at any time.
Other operating systems cannot handle these files simultaneously.
However, during a transfer, it is still possible to use only the original JPEG file and delete the AAE files that have become unnecessary, if they were imported at the same time.
Modifications made under IOS will therefore be lost.
I hope I was able to help you.
