What are the colors of my USB wires?

I have 2 USB ports on the front of my old Packard Bell and 1 FireWire, grouped on a mini card. For the USB, 7 wires need to connect to the motherboard: colors red, black, yellow, navy blue, green, white, and a thicker black wire than the previous one. Since they are not marked, it's impossible to know where to plug them in.
At the end of the cable, I have 8 wires: the thin black one has 2 pins. Otherwise, I have identified the pins on my new motherboard and the wiring diagram.
My problem is that since the colors are not standard, I am afraid of making a mistake.
Thank you for your help, and I admire the spirit of cooperation that exists here; just reading you all, I learn a lot of things.
Thanks to everyone.
