    Hello

I recommend (as a player) www.Yahoo.com (in English) which is simple and easy to navigate (but nothing is provided to teach you how to play)
at the same time, the best way to learn is to play and replay.

If you are beginners, I suggest you buy a few books:

    Chess (Seneca)
The Marabout Guide to Chess (Van Setters)
You will learn the basics there. I strongly advise against learning opening strategies, as it is not useful at first; you need to try to understand the idea behind your opponent's moves and look for ways to thwart them.

Then there are some more advanced books, if you already know a bit about playing, like The School of Chess 1 and 2, which focus on learning combinations. Even though this doesn’t always lead to winning the game, it at least teaches you to see the traps stronger opponents will try to set.

Next, I recommend that you review endgames in more depth.

Of course, between each stage, I advise you to play a lot to assimilate what you see. If you play blitz (5 or 10 minutes online), you will learn quickly if you play a lot.

    Good luck!

The best is https://play.chessbase.com/en/ you first need to download the software and create a free account! The best players are there, but there are many amateurs! There can be 7,000 people connected at the same time! There is also the possibility to participate in tournaments and play at any time control!

It is recognized as the best online chess game site, and I have tried almost all the sites, and it is the one I enjoyed the most!

I agree, it's the most recognized site.

That's where pros or advanced amateurs try out new ideas, and it's also where you can get a better sense of the "metagame" (that is, the trends in gameplay that you might encounter in a tournament).

That said, you can meet excellent players even on Yahoo Chess, but there's no database like on playchess.com

Playchess.com partners with Fritz, which means that if you've purchased Fritz, you have access to the Playchess.com database through Fritz. And that's really significant.

"<i>it's the most recognized site</i>". Sure, but that doesn't mean it's the best!!!!

Finally, this is where the greatest players play, apparently. The Elo system is also quite realistic, apparently.

      Certainly.
But that's still an "a priori".

I'm not saying the site is worthless or bad; I haven't even checked it out. I just wish we could prove, substantiate, argue, and scientifically demonstrate, like a basic computer scientist or chess player, WHY it is truly THE best.

The fact that it is "recognized", "popular", and "realistic" is in no way a criterion of proof in this type of reasoning!
TF1 is also a recognized, popular, and realistic channel; does that make it objectively THE best channel?
CCM is also a popular, recognized, and realistic site; does that make it objectively THE best site?

So, first of all, I often play chess, so I'm looking for an online chess site that's a bit stronger than beginner but not as strong as pro.
Otherwise, I know one, but they are quite strong: www.jeux.fr
Just... chess section (at the top of the page)
    Alright, PEACE.
