Output sound via USB

Hello,

Unfortunately, I dropped my laptop after a somewhat boozy party, and now my jack input is messed up; I can't connect anything to it.

So, I bought a USB/jack adapter, but those guys at Amazon didn't mention that the USB side is a female input...

To compensate, I recently bought a male/male USB jack cable to resolve the issue.
Happy as can be, I plug everything into my computer, and the sound I hear in my headphones is just a vague crackling to my great dismay.

Moreover, the sound continues to come out of my computer normally.
Did I miss a step with the audio peripherals?

Thank you for your response! :)
Greg.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 34.0

I think, but that's just my opinion, that when using USB, you don't benefit from your PC's sound card like you do with the Jack output. However, if you have a mixing console or a sound system, you can try a USB/Jack/table/headphone connection that will work.

    Cheers

Hey Greg, take it easy on the drinks and don't insult Amazon, they’re cool...
