Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Marantz PM5005 amplifier with a pair of Focal Chorus 714 speakers.
However, the sound is crashing, as if the speakers are out of service...
It's the Fnac advisors who recommended this product to me, and I don't think I made a wiring mistake... (A+B for 8 ohms as stated on the back of the speakers)...
Thank you for your information!

Hi,
since this is the only concrete thing, I'm attaching myself to it.
This assembly diagram is not dangerous, but it is completely useless; terminals A+ and B+ are connected inside the amplifier, there are just switches between the terminals and the amplifier.
However, if you connected the speakers to A+ and B-, I wonder what that could have done.
The causes can be multiple, we should do some cross tests. The "crash" sound doesn’t ring a bell for me. Have you tried multiple sources? You haven't connected to Phono (if present) at least?
If it's new, a return to customer service might be a good solution. -

Hi
if the 8ohm speakers are connected to the correct TERMINALS ...
how many speakers are on the amplifier? -
Yes, but the problem is that I don't know how to connect them at 8 ohms... Do I need to bridge them?
How many speakers are there on the amp?? What does it mean? On the amp, I have 1 output A L and R and 1 output B L and R... -
re
if you have 2 speakers, it's on line A

the manual
https://www.marantz.fr/documentmaster/fr/manuel_utilisateurpm5005.pdf
page 9: you select A for the speakers... and A+B if you have 4 speakers. -
Yes, I've already seen the manual, it's not that.

Since it says A+B = 8 ohms behind the amp.

- Hello
Rather than calling on others, it is always easier to do it yourself.

Hello Niklasss50,
We need a bit more information to assist you. Under what conditions does the "crash sound" occur? At low and medium volume or only when the level rises?
Your amplifier is 40 watts for a 150-watt speaker. As soon as the level rises too much or if you use the bass and treble adjustments, the amplifier is likely to be driven into saturation.
The only solution is to check with another amplifier to see if the issue persists, as it is often the small amplifiers pushed into clipping that unfortunately damage the speakers.
If the problem continues, please don't hesitate to contact our Home Technical Support at support.home@focal.com or our After-Sales Service at sav@focal.com
