Unable to install FSX Solved

I have been desperately searching for a solution to a problem that is truly driving me crazy: I am completely unable to install FSX...

To give you the background, a year ago I changed my PC because my old computer no longer worked. FSX was installed on that old computer and worked without any issues. Now, I have tried dozens of times to reinstall it on my new computer, but nothing works. I first encountered a lot of error 1335 and now it crashes right at the beginning of the installation (at the "Removing applications" phase). After days and days of research, I have come to the conclusion that the initial problem originates from the file D1-Fea~17.cab on the first CD. The file seems to be corrupted; it's impossible to copy it without causing a near-total crash of Windows.

I don't know what else to do; I haven't been able to try cleaning the disk with an appropriate kit (I don't have one on hand and I don't have the time to buy one, especially since I can't find it anywhere). I also tried installing the game locally, meaning copying the game files onto the hard drive, etc., but since I can't copy that infamous D1-Fea~17.cab file, I can't install it. I have only found one solution: to find the game files to keep only the file I'm looking for, but that also proves complicated to find. I am totally discouraged and slowly starting to give up.

There are several solutions:
Firstly, create and mount an iso of your CD. It’s unlikely this will work, but this method has helped me solve some problems before.

Secondly, you can download an iso of this CD. It’s technically not illegal since you own the original.

Thirdly, in the worst case, you can simply use a pirated version of the game. Again, this is not illegal in your case. If you have trouble finding it, know that I can also help you with that.

If nothing works, I can try to send you, by email for example, the missing file, since I also own the game.

Good evening,FSX cannot be installed twice on the same computer unless you contact Microsoft support. Perhaps the first installation was complete enough for this phenomenon to occur. It may even be that FSX cannot be installed twice on any computer (very smart Microsoft security)...

Well, I have some news.
First of all, I couldn't find any way to install the game with the CD files. I downloaded the content of CD1, extracted the file I needed, and it didn't work. I also tried running the ISO file to install CD1 and then switch to my real CD2, but it seems to refuse to transition from one CD to the other. So, I have several possibilities:
- I started downloading the content of CD2 to eventually install everything from the two ISO files, and then I will install a French patch.
- I also just thought that I could copy all the content of the ISO file (which is actually the content of CD1) into the folder that contains my game files (locally, since trying to install the game from the CDs is a waste of time) and then run everything together, which should work if CD2 is not defective, but normally it should be fine.

In any case, I'll update you when I have more news. Thanks for your help, by the way, which helped me think about the possibilities I had.

PS: Sorry for resurrecting the topic a bit, but I had to give some news to potentially provide the solution if I manage to install this FSX thing.

Well, I finally managed to get out of that situation!
Sorry for taking so long to post this solution: I was on vacation abroad and therefore had no internet access.

So, for the solution, I simply installed the 2 CDs as ISO files and validated my official key. I got incredibly lucky because the torrent I downloaded was removed just three days after I finished downloading the complete game. So, if others have the bad luck I had, they unfortunately won't be able to use the same technique as me in the exact same way. But there are copies circulating on the web with the 2 CDs in DAA files that can be converted to ISO using software like ISOBurner, for example.

The only downside regarding my FSX is that it's in English. There's no way to switch it to French, but that's not a problem since I'm good at English.
