Hello,
My Acer Aspire M5910 has two operating systems installed in parallel: original Windows 7 and Ubuntu that I added later.
CPU: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.2GHz x 4
Graphics card: Geforce GT 440/PCIe/SSE2
Everything was fine for 2 years until Ubuntu started crashing regularly. Following the advice from the forum for this distribution, I updated the BIOS (from version P01.A to P01.A3L)
Unfortunately, now it's Windows that is suffering the consequences since it no longer boots: it starts to load and a blue screen appears too quickly to read what's written on it and the computer restarts.
I see that the description for version P01.A3L is: BIOS for Linux Supports Intel Clarkdale K0 stepping CPU. Does this mean that this version is only for Linux?
Should I go back to the previous version of the BIOS? Is it done the same way?

Which utility did you use to update the BIOS or UEFI of your Acer Aspire M5910?
Regarding Linux Ubuntu,
1) what is the version?
2) How to migrate from a previous version?

I updated the BIOS following the instructions provided by Acer: using the command line on Windows. In my case, I only needed to go to the correct directory and type "flash1M"
the version of Ubuntu is 14.04.1 LTS (Trusty) -
