Black screen after graphics driver update

Hello,

I’m posting here because I have a problem: I updated my graphics card driver (Intel HD Graphics) and then I had to restart my PC. Here’s what happens when I open it: I see the computer’s startup screen, then Windows’ startup screen, but after these two startups the screen goes completely black, though I can still hear sounds (from Skype, for example).

Please help me as soon as possible.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 22.0.1229.94

    Hello,
Start in safe mode, press F8 on startup, choose Repair and then try to perform a system restore to a date prior to this update: http://www.chantal11.com/2010/05/restauration-systeme-a-une-date-anterieure-windows-7-8-10/

      Hello,

thank you very much, I just started the system restore and everything is perfect.
I apologize if I shocked you, it’s only that I was very stressed and eager to be able to access my computer again.

It's okay, there have been worse things.
If your PC is functioning normally, there is no need to update its drivers; if needed, with Windows 7, it's Windows Update that handles it along with the other updates.

Hello. I have the same problem on Windows 8. Following a crash during the NVIDIA update, my PC starts, asks for my password, then a black screen for 5 to 10 seconds, and it returns to the password prompt. I can't find any restore option via F8 at startup. PC info: it’s a portable Alienware, i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, and the graphics card is a GTX 670m. Thanks for your help. Dok.
