Historical document issues and recent locations

Hello,
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (if that helps) and I have the problem described in the title of my message. Indeed, I have neither the history of recent documents nor that of recent locations in Windows Explorer (including in its address bar). What should I do? While some are going to great lengths to remove the "Recent Documents" menu from the Start menu, I am desperately trying to get it to work, as I regularly consult pdf, doc, and all kinds of text files.

Hello.

For the "recent documents history":
1 - right-click on the taskbar
2 - uncheck "Lock the taskbar" if it is checked
3 - Click on "Properties"
4 - Click on the "Start Menu" tab
5 - Click on the "Customize..." box
6 - Check the "Recent Documents" box
7 - Click on "OK", "Apply", etc... to confirm

For the "recent location" in Windows Explorer:
1 - open Windows Explorer (shortcut by holding down the 'Windows' key and pressing the 'E' key, then release both keys)
2 - At the top, in the menu bar, click on 'Tools'
3 - Click on 'Folder Options'
4 - In the 'General' tab, in the 'Navigation Pane' section, make sure "Show all folders" is checked
5 - Click on 'Apply'
6 - Then, in the navigation pane of the explorer (left side), make sure "Recent Locations" is visible under "Favorites"

@ bye goodnight
