Hello everyone!
I’d like to ask you a little question because I still haven't found my answer on our good friend Google.
First of all, please don’t think I’m crazy because this is a reality! Video proof if you don’t believe me! :)
For about a week now, the charger for my ASUS N56V laptop has been connecting and disconnecting automatically and completely randomly.
Indeed, when the laptop is plugged in, it switches between "charging" and "on battery" by itself.
I’ve noticed that this is often related to the activity of the computer. Indeed, when in sleep mode, the computer charges normally. But as soon as I turn it on, or launch Firefox or anything else, the computer goes haywire and I get constant "connection/disconnection" (usually every second).
I’ve read quite a bit online but nothing has worked. Furthermore, I tried removing the battery from the laptop while it is plugged in. It works fine, until it decides to disconnect, and then, blackout...
Spirit, are you there?
What do you think? I don't have the option to get another charger or another battery. And I would really like to have your opinions before buying one.
Thanks in advance for your responses!

Hello,
Personally, I've never faced this type of problem ^^! Right off the bat, I see two possibilities: either it's a contact issue either in the charger itself or at the charger-PC socket. There could be a way to dive into the crazy repair disassembly, but goodbye warranties! (recommended only if you have the right tools and are a bit of a daredevil).
The second possibility: the voltage at the transformer's output might be slightly below what your PC needs. Check the nominal voltage (on the charger's label) and compare it to what your PC requires. If it’s the same, still check it at the charger's output using a multimeter.
In both cases, it would be good to find a compatible charger and test with it for comparison, that would be simpler...
Good luck!

Thank you for looking into my topic.
Indeed, I have done my research and I can't find any topic that addresses this question..
I will really start to wonder about the presence of mysterious forces =)
To get back to the subject, what’s surprising is that I have never changed my charger. So it’s the "official" ASUS charger.. With the equivalent nominal voltage.
Is it possible that a power surge caused it to fail or something like that?
(I know nothing about electrical voltage =) )
In my opinion, the most likely hypothesis is that there is a faulty connection (a solder joint on the board) inside the charger (generally due to wear and/or a shock (even a light one)). I have already managed to extend the life of mine when it experienced this issue. Since my laptop is no longer under warranty, I opened the charger and resoldered the component (a coil in this case) on the board. Be careful! A laptop charger operates at 220 Volts, lethal! It's better to be sure of what you're doing, and to be somewhat equipped (soldering iron, solder, screwdriver, multimeter, hammer if the case is stubborn ^^). If you're not feeling daring enough to dive into this, it's better to buy a new charger. But wait to see if the situation worsens (if so, that confirms the theory of a faulty solder joint).
Best regards
