Hello everyone,
I'm a college student, I usually connect via wifi to my family’s home network on weekends and to my dorm’s network during the week (via ethernet).
Currently, I have no internet during the week, and the trouble-shooting suggests that I plug in an ethernet cable. I've tried with two cables that work (I swear, seriously) and it's still the same.
So I tried to check with maconfig.com if they offered any drivers for my ethernet card, and they did. I attempted to download a driver, but here’s the problem...
I downloaded and extracted it, but it's a .sys file + a security catalog + and a configuration information
I tried to find out how to use a .sys file and I found that it’s supposed to be accompanied by an .inf file...
I don’t understand anything anymore, if anyone knows what I should do, thanks for the help :)

It is hard to catch a black cat in a dark room, especially when it isn't there.

I think I found a solution. I didn't know about Windows Update, it installed 3 updates and my ethernet connection works (at home).
I hope it will work in my university residence.
Thank you for your attention and sorry for my poor skills in IT ;)
