Hello,

After using the Plume tool, I'm unable to select the outline of the path which is grayed out...

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Mac OS X Lion (10.7) / Firefox 27.0

Thank you for your responses

Actually, I am following this tutorial: http://fr.openclassrooms.com/informatique/cours/dessiner-d-apres-une-photo/l-interieur-du-visage

Still impossible for the outline of the trace... :-(

He forgot a few things, the guy ;)

You need to make sure your brush is in path mode (top left, middle icon)

Then select a shape from the brush options at the top
Make sure the foreground color is set to black

Then go back to the brush, right-click > path options > shapes > simulate pressure

Where's it stuck??

Thank you for responding, but that's not what I wanted... I don't know how to explain.

I drew something and I want to modify the outline by giving it a "feathering" effect, as if you were using paint, you know?

Hi

not sure I understood everything either, we select a path with the path selection tool (black arrow or shortcut key: A)

to create a stroke on a path:

take the brush

at the top choose a calligraphic shape for example, adjust the thickness and opacity (that will be your stroke)
check if you want both icons at the top for pressure sensitivity, it will create a slightly softer stroke

outline with the pen then right-click > stroke path
there you choose shape and check simulate pressure

Hi Korben

I drew something and I want to modify the outline by giving it a "brush" effect, like when you paint, you know?

Yes, I see
what you want is to apply a brush to the path's outline
when it's put into words correctly, it's easier to understand ^^

Explanation with images:
You create your path with the pen tool (or with a shape, it doesn't matter):
Click on brush, then on the shape editor:
Choose a brush shape that roughly corresponds to what you want to do, adjust the size, the spacing

Then adjust the scattering

It's up to you if you want to modify other settings
When the shape suits you, open the path panel and click on the path outline icon
https://images.franceserv.fr/images/tL37gy.jpg

You can also do as HFT said: instead of clicking on the outline icon, you open the contextual menu of the path panel and choose outline:

In the window that opens, you adjust like this:

And there you can see that the pressure settings are applied:

If the result doesn't please you, you can undo, modify the settings in the shape editor, and apply again via the path panel
Okay?
I recommend memorizing your path before you start creating the outline, it will save you from having to redo it in case of an error
