How to create a contour

Hello everyone :-)
Does anyone know how to create a border like this?
http://geo-media.beatport.com/image_size/500x500/8725734.jpg
Because I tried to make a normal border, but it didn't turn out well, the font didn't work well. I searched by myself but I can't find anything.
Thank you for helping me. By the way, I don’t really know GIMP at all, I need to watch some tutorials but I haven't taken the time yet, so please, no complicated words :-)
Thank you.

hi

just simply using a clipping mask

here's how I do it with paint.net, it's the same with gimp or cs

on a layer you type your text in black - with an outline font - and you use it as a mask

What is a contour font? :-)
Do you have a tutorial you can suggest? I searched on Google for "contour font GIMP," but I can't find anything. Maybe you have better keywords than mine? :-)

Thanks, and as I said, I am a beginner... :-/

Hello,

You open a new black image
You edit your text in white
You should have two layers, the black image and the text
Select the text layer - right click and Alpha to Selection.
In the layers window, open a new layer (bottom left - envelope)
You should have 3 layers
Menu - Select - Border (set to 2 here)
Then add a gradient of your choice to the border selection.
Once the outline is done, all that's left is to fill the text with black.
Select the text layer - right click - Alpha to Selection - fill the selection with black
And there you go
If needed, come back tonight or tomorrow

Hello,

your method does not allow for following the model; if you look closely, you'll see the various "cuts" on the edges of the letters - it's not uniform -

it needs to be done with a selection mask (GIMP or Paint.net) (clipping mask for CS) on the font and not on the outer edge of the selection.

Thank you :-)
But as Guy says, I would prefer a border, here it's not really about putting a gradient on the border :-) but thank you anyway :-)

Re.....

In my opinion, it's the font that is made this way and they added the gradient

Re....

Well, here it is.
You need to download the font onto your system, open Gimp, edit your text with the font, and follow my instructions above.
