How to read a thumb file

Hello
I am using Windows Vista
I used a text editor to open a thumb file
but unfortunately it is unreadable (Windows writing)
Is there any software to decrypt this kind of files?

    I had some edited images with a thumb file inside. I would like to know if these are really the original images and when they date from?

    Why do you want to open this file???

    Thumbs.db files are used by Windows to display thumbnail previews of images located in the folder.
    They are not spyware or code that could harm your computer.
