MSVCR80.dll issue

Hello everyone.
I wanted to do a simple iTunes update, nothing too complicated. Once the download was finished, there was an issue and the window "Cannot start the program because MSVCR80.dll is missing, etc." appeared.
I tried doing a system restore, but to my surprise, the backup was no longer active.
So I directly downloaded the file and placed it in the System32 folder, where all the other similar files are located.
I restarted my PC, etc., but to no avail. The system error window still appears.
If someone could lend me a hand, it would be very kind.

Since I just experienced this problem, and I eventually solved it, here are a few tips:
1/ Do not download a dll from the internet, there are plenty of forums that advise this and it doesn't work!!!
2/ Many sites offer to download a miracle program that will fix everything: don't do it
3/ Others suggest uninstalling all Apple software (iTunes, QuickTime, AutoUpdate...): don't do that either, there’s a simpler way
The solution:
 Go to c/program files/ common files
 Cut the "Apple" folder and paste it on the desktop
 Uninstall iTunes
 Reinstall iTunes (to download here: http://www.apple.com/fr/itunes/download/)
And that's it. Start iTunes, if all goes well, delete the Apple folder from the desktop, there’s a new one.

Good evening.
It's certainly not a coincidence, but I have exactly the same issue. I wanted to update iTunes and was told that a service could not be started; and this service uses the famous file msvcr80.dll which is missing. I don't know why it's not there or what it is for...
I also tried several manipulations that I could find here and there, to no avail. I attempted to do a system restore, but the absence of this dll prevents it from succeeding...
Any help would be welcome...

(I am the author of the post) I just went through everything I could find as a solution to this problem. Whether on a 32-bit system or even on a 64-bit system.
I executed these commands for 64 bits
CD /D %windir%\SysWOW64
regsvr32 MSVCR80.dll
and this command for 32 bits
regsvr32 MSVCR80.dll
One time it tells me
"The module msvcr80.dll may not be compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check that the module is compatible with either an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe)
and another time it tells me
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" keeps appearing.
In this window it says:
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I click ok, and then another window appears.
"RegSvr32"
in which it is indicated:
failed to load the module "MSVCR80.dll".
Check that the binary file is stored at the location specified by the path provided or debug it to look for any problems with binary or dependent .DLL files.
A routine to initialize a dynamic link library (DLL) has failed.
I feel like it doesn't accept either of the two solutions I found in other threads. :/

Big problems following the iTunes update with that damn MSVCR80.dll!!!
I’m on W7 64bit and I’ve uninstalled all the Apple stuff (iTunes, QuickTime, and even my iTunes library! 50GB of music!) to try to reinstall iTunes afterwards but nothing works! That error message keeps appearing.
The worst part is that it’s starting to appear for other software/applications that I’m now unable to launch! Adobe Premiere Elements, Daemon Tool, among others!
So if anyone has a solution, I’m all ears before I’m forced to completely reset my PC!
Otherwise, we might as well start a petition against Apple and demand millions in damages (psychological and financial for the withdrawal from our addiction to iTunes that no longer works).

Thank you adsubia2 for the information. I had tried many things and nothing was working until I came across you. I followed it to the letter and everything works great. THANK YOU.
At my place, it's impossible to uninstall the software; it tells me that I don't have access rights.
Hello,
I have the same missing DLL issue as you, msvcr80.dll, after attempting to update to version s1.1.4 of iTunes. From what I understand from the discussion, the problem was resolved by deleting files. Could you please let me know the names and locations of the files that need to be deleted to fix this issue?
Thank you in advance.

Thank you, it worked, but now I need to redo all my playlists... But the main thing is my podcasts, and that's working, except for the 'cloud' that needs to be turned into real files.
Hello,
for my part, on XP, the method yields nothing because when installing Apple Mobile Device, it crashes as if I didn't have installation rights, and yet I am indeed an administrator.

Good evening,
Same problem as you, however when I try to uninstall iTunes from the control panel, it tells me that it's impossible, I don't understand... After such a monumental bug, maybe Apple will release another update, more conclusive this time, hopefully.
Thank you for your help in the meantime, because it's quite annoying!
