Internal hard drive for PS3 Ultra Slim 12GB

Hello,

Actually, for Christmas my mom bought me the PS3 ultra slim 12GB, but only after installing GTA 5 I already have no space left on my console, so I can only play this game. That's why I want to buy a 500GB internal hard drive, but I have no idea which one to choose, here are my questions:

Is this hard drive good for the PS3:

How do I install it?

And finally, is installing such a hard drive harmful to the console's operation?

    Following this tutorial, I preferred to buy an internal hard drive from Sony (out of preference because a PlayStation 3 => Sony).
    Your hard drive looks pretty good, but I'm not an expert on hard drives...
    And normally, you don’t need to format it, just put it in your PlayStation.
    When you turn on your PlayStation, it will recognize the hard drive change and install the software by itself (it takes several minutes or even hours... It depends).

    Hello,
    I’m in the same situation with an ultra slim PS3 12 GB that doesn’t support GTA 5. I ordered the same hard drive on Amazon, but I was wondering if I also need to buy a disk support.
    Could you help me figure this out?

      Hello, regarding the support, I think it's definitely worth buying since the hard drive is very thin for a PS3 ultra slim. I bought an internal 320GB hard drive for my PS3 ultra slim 3 days ago with a support included, and it's very easy to install, and for 6 euros, it's a good deal to get it :)

    Bsr, I really need help. I'm looking for a hard drive for my boyfriend's ultra slim 12GB PS3, but I don't know anything about it!!! :-( I saw that cr83250 bought a Toshiba 500GB for €45. Could you tell me where you got it and give me 1 or 3 details about this drive so that I don't make a mistake? Thanks in advance! :-)

    Thank you both for your response!
    In the end, I bought another Toshiba hard drive in the store that was cheaper (45€ for 500GB)
    And guéloulil, you do need to buy a hard drive bracket as well, it's quite a hassle to find and costs between 10 and 20€
    Look on YouTube, there are quite a few tutorials explaining how to install the hard drive in your PS3

    Hello, my PS3 just gave up on me (it's not reading anything :/ ). Anyway, I was able to keep the hard drive from the slim and since now there are only ultra slims for sale (12 GB for me), and since there’s no hard drive in a 12 GB one, will putting my hard drive from the slim into the ultra slim erase my data on the hard drive????

      Good evening, I have a PS3 slim or ultra, I'm not sure, 12GB. I installed an external hard drive of 500GB, I formatted it to FAT32, but the problem is I can't transfer my data onto it. It stays on my PS3's flash drive, and some data is transferred for certain games, but I can't send everything to the hard drive. Thank you for your help.
