GARMIN nuvi 40 - stuck on GARMIN Solved

Question

Hello (or good evening),

I have a problem. I’ve had my GARMIN GPS for about 15 months and I’ve never had any issues until now. Yesterday, after stopping the car and turning off the GPS, I turned it back on to continue my journey. But now, it turns on with the GARMIN logo and that’s it. Since then, it’s stuck on the GARMIN logo, and nothing helps.
I have turned it off several times by holding the power button for 5 or 6 seconds, but as soon as I turn it back on, I end up on the GARMIN logo, as if it’s waking up from sleep. If I plug it into the car charger, it automatically turns on to the GARMIN logo. I let the battery drain, but once it’s plugged back into the car charger, it goes back to “GARMIN” stuck. And it has been stuck like this for two days.
Does anyone have a solution?

Hello, didn't you drop the memory card on the floor..? (absence of card)

Thank you for your response. Indeed, the slot on the right side of my GPS for the map seems empty... I haven't found the card in my car. I will search tomorrow; it's true that given the size, if you are right, it won't be easy, but it can only be in my car.

However, I have never dealt with this card; it must have already been inserted in the device when I purchased it in that case.

Sorry for the double post, impossible to edit my previous post.

I didn't find anything in my car. In fact, there's a possibility to add a micro SD card, but by default, there's 1.6GB of space and I've never had to add a card. So the problem doesn't seem to come from the memory card.

I'm really stuck here... I feel like I'm going to have to buy another one... If I buy one, it won't be a GARMIN, I’m not planning to spend 100€ a year with them!

Problem solved!! This issue is apparently known with the nuvi 30, 40, and 50. I found the solution on the Garmin website; you just need to follow the instructions below:

AND the problem is quickly resolved (install 2 or 3 quick files, reset the device by pressing the top left corner when connecting it to the computer, and there you go, update and problem solved).
