Hello,
I just bought a Chromecast which I managed to connect to my mobile phone's network but not to my Freebox.
I tried switching to WPA, WPA2, and installing IPV6 but nothing works; the Chromecast key can't pass the Wi-Fi protection of the Freebox.
Thanks

I have the same problem.
I have an old Freebox and I can't connect my Chromecast to it.
If anyone has managed to do it, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hello everyone, I had similar issues to yours, but it was related to a mistake in the setup.
After plugging in the Chromecast and installing the ChromeCast app on my Android phone, I stayed connected to my box's Wi-Fi, trying in vain to set up the device.
The trick was to connect to the device's Wi-Fi first in order to set it up!!! A little update of the manual is in order!! :-)

Hello
I have a Freebox HD and I'm unable to configure my Chromecast.
What specific settings should I adjust?
When you say I need to connect to the Chromecast's Wi-Fi to set it up, does that mean I should connect my tablet to the Chromecast's Wi-Fi? And then what should I do?
Usually, I'm not bad with computers, but I'm stuck here
Thank you for your help.

Thank you Lascapi!! I struggled to install it; I had the same problem as everyone else. Every time I launched the Chromecast setup, my phone would disconnect from the Freebox Wi-Fi, so the connection was impossible. By connecting through the Chromecast Wi-Fi, I was able to register the Freebox Wi-Fi (okay, I had to try three times..), but in the end, the Chromecast updated and tested with YouTube perfectly!
Hi everyone,
I had the same problem. I tried all your solutions and none of them worked. I set up my wifi according to the recommendations, but I was still facing this issue of being unable to connect to the wifi, whether from my computer or from my Nexus running Android.
In the end, I decided to connect the Chromecast to the USB port of my PC and the HDMI as well. It was a blind setup since I had no image... and it worked! Since then, connected to my TV, it's working perfectly.
I don't know what made it work better...

Hello, I found the solution on a Free forum, simple and effective!
In fact, the solution is very simple. You just need to go to the Free subscriber area (to configure the Freebox), go to Freebox / configure my Freebox router / and activate the router if it is disabled.
There you go, happy casting to everyone!

Hi,
it's more about needing a server application, which the Freebox probably doesn't have... and neither do the others.
Moreover, given the relationship between Free and Google, it might not happen anytime soon.

Hello everyone.
I'm adding my two cents to this building :p which is getting quite big for me because it annoys me that it's not working.
This afternoon, I acquired this little gem called Chromecast, but I can't configure it.
In terms of equipment, here's a small list that follows:
ISP: FREE
Box model: Crystal (V5)
Computer: MacBook PRO, HP Pavilion dv7
Mobile: 2 iPad minis, iPhone 4S and 4
TV: Panasonic TX-PF50G20S
The browsers and applications are all updated.
The problem is as follows: the dongle does not recognize my Wi-Fi network. I've tried all possible channels (of which there are 13) in addition to the auto selection. I've also tried all encryption keys. The only change I experienced by switching channels is that the dongle went from "I don't recognize your box" to "there's no internet". In any case, my other reference devices were well connected and functional.
So I called Google and Free.
Google
---
* Is your router compatible? The Freebox is not listed on their compatibility list.
* What color is the LED on the dongle? Flashing white, indicating a communication problem between the dongle and the router, but it's not a malfunction of the dongle but a router configuration issue.
* They sent an email with a verification process. Basically, what's on their support page and FAQ on their site which I had already followed before their call.
-> Next contact by email, I’ll keep you updated on the progress
Free

* We don’t know your Chromecast. I’m changing the channel (to number 3), and you will contact us again to tell us what’s going on.
* We made you change the channel, now change the encryption key. I’m escalating the information because we don’t know your Chromecast.
-> Don't care and I don't want to call them back.
Anyway, I’m going to lend my dongle to a friend who is with Bouygues and another with Orange to check if it’s not an issue with my dongle. For the few who pass by here and have managed to set it up, please help me :p. (Thanks in advance.)

Hello,
I also had some trouble setting up my Chromecast.
Reading your solutions, I noticed the following points:
1st problem: My Chromecast couldn't find my Freebox V5 Wi-Fi network. My network was on channel 12 automatically. I noticed that the Chromecast creates a Wi-Fi hotspot on channel 2, so I changed my Freebox settings to channel 2 manually (Useful link: http://www.universfreebox.com/article/13001/Tutoriel-Changer-votre-canal-Wifi)
And then, no more issues, my Freebox network shows up at the top of the found networks. I continue the installation with my PC running W7, I enter the WPA key but 2nd problem: The Chromecast cannot connect to the network.
I try again with an Android device and the problem is resolved. On an Android device, the Wi-Fi network switch is automatic, but not on my PC. I don't have the reason yet, but this might guide you in finding a solution.
Good luck!

As for me, I just received a Chromecast, ordered from Amazon.fr (very fast delivery blah blah ;-)
Initial attempt to set it up on a Windows 8 PC was unsuccessful.
I could see the Chromecast but couldn't configure it (it kept spinning for about a minute each time).
Second attempt with an Android tablet (Acer Iconia Tab A-810) ... it saw the Chromecast, but couldn't configure it (instant response though).
Third attempt with an Android phone (HTC One) saw the Chromecast but was almost able to configure it, but I didn't see the "code" on the TV.
I rebooted the Chromecast and tried again ... it worked!!
Then it took about 10 minutes to update the firmware of the Chromecast.
After that, I was able to use it with the tablet and the phone, finally I was able to cast YouTube, but nothing else for now.
On the PC, I can't even see the Chromecast anymore, but I suspect it's due to McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention on the work PC ... need to find out which ports to enable.
Perhaps this experience report can help someone.

Hello,
Have you managed to configure your Chromecast on the Freebox Wi-Fi network?
I've tried several times, but the Chromecast dongle refuses to connect to the Wi-Fi network. I've also tried WEP, WPA, and WPA2...
Without success
Thank you

My little contribution: the key didn't seem to connect to the wifi network.
I used the Android app and it worked on the first try.
OS: Mac OS X / Android
Box: Freebox V6

Hello everyone,
As for me, I think it was an issue with
- the WEP key (TKIP+AES) being too complex.
or
- an IP camera on the network (disable it before configuration and then plug it back in afterward)
hoping this helps someone.

Hello,
I have almost the same problem. I have a Freebox V6, I installed the app on a tablet to set up the Chromecast, and after entering the Wi-Fi key, I have a lot of trouble getting the Chromecast to connect to the network.
With a bit of persistence, it works but not for long, because a few seconds later, the Chromecast loses the connection again. I managed to reach the update stage but I couldn't get past 15% of the update.
Just for your information, my Chromecast is 2m away from my Freebox server and I have no Wi-Fi issues with my other devices (smartphone, tablet, Squeezebox, etc...).

After spending an hour and a half trying everything, searching through all the forums without anything working, I finally found a solution somewhat by chance.
In the Freebox Revolution configuration - Local Network / Wifi: http://mafreebox.fre...tings.wifi.Wifi
1) Click on "Manage MAC filtering"
2) Select "Whitelist" (the WIFI will only accept devices that are on this list)
3) Add the MAC address of the Chromecast to the whitelist (if you've tried to configure it before, it should appear in the first selector)
4) Take the opportunity to add all the other devices that connect to your WIFI, otherwise they will be blocked
5) Validate OK
Restart the Chromecast app configuration (I personally hit "retry" on my Nexus 5 smartphone).
And then, a little miracle happened at my place, the Chromecast downloads the update, installs it, and tells me..... hallelujah..... "ready to cast" :)
After that, who knows why... Maybe a stroke of luck... You can tell me :)
