Hello
I just bought a Memup KioskLS 1T external hard drive and I'm trying to use it via Wi-Fi.
Whether on a PC or a tablet, I can't access the files on the hard drive.
I connected beforehand to the hard drive's Wi-Fi network.
When I try to access it, I'm asked for a username/password that I don't know.
Could you please help me and tell me how to access and share the folders on my hard drive?
Thank you in advance.

I have a beginning of an answer: to access the PC via Wi-Fi, of course, you need to connect to the Wi-Fi network of the Memup, then type in the explorer:
\\diskname
you can also access it if it appears in the "network" menu.
Good luck.

After some Google research,
on icietmaintenant.fr/SMF/index.php?topic=18247.0
I found this:

Web Access
Once connected, you can access the settings by typing the local IP address 192.168.99.1
You then have access to the settings of the Kiosk LS Wifi.
The login username and password are "admin".
These settings are modifiable.
This access concerns a computer. Please refer to the "PARAMETERS" section.
Using the Wi-Stream app
Wi-Stream is the mobile software intended for smartphones; it is included on the utility CD supplied with the
product, but you can also download it from our website or any other application distribution site.

Thank you
I do have access to the DD configuration menu.
What I would like to understand is how to view and read the content on the PC via a PC.
I tried connecting a network drive but the admin user doesn't work? Is there a specific way to enter the user? I tried with the IP plus the user "admin" with no results.
I also can't read the content via my tablet, even though the LAN network 192.168.99.1 corresponding to the DD is found???
I am completely lost ???

Have you tried to see what is on the utility CD that came with the disk?
But I don't understand what you're writing: "how to see and read the content of the PC via a PC."

Oops sorry
I meant to say "see and read the content of the hard drive" and this via wifi and/or my tablet.
On the CD included, there is only a usage PDF that describes only the configuration and quick installation part. The kind of manual that isn't really useful.
In the promotional presentation, it says "enjoy your content wirelessly - explore your files ... over the internet etc etc" but there are no explanations on how to do it.
I did send an email to Memup, but before I get a response ...
In any case, thank you for your help ....

When you connect to 192.168.99.1, what happens?
Are you stuck on the password?
Several sites provide:
user: admin
password: admin
(if you haven't changed it in the settings)
Apparently, you can also use an app, "Wi-Stream" to access the content. (I don't know what it's like, I just read about it online)

First of all, thank you for your help.
Indeed, the user and password for the NAS were admin/admin.
Connecting (via Explorer) to the NAS's IP address (192.168.99.1) grants access to the "configuration" page (using the admin user and the password I changed, which gives me no issues).
The problem may be simpler; perhaps I did not understand how to use an external NAS with Wi-Fi???
I thought I should be able to access the content (my movies, for example) without needing to connect the NAS via USB!
On my PC, without connecting the NAS but with the NAS's Wi-Fi network connected, when I try to map a network drive by entering the NAS's IP address, it prompts me for a user/password that is not admin, and the same thing happens on my tablet using "ES File Explorer."
As for "3Wi-stream," that app doesn't work very well.
I hope I have been clear and precise enough.....
Thank you.

It's okay, thank you anyway for trying.
All I can do now is hope that someone buys the same equipment....
Best of luck.

I have the same problem, but I have the impression that you can only read the hard drive files from a PC or a Mac via USB, which is completely contrary to the purpose of buying a Wi-Fi hard drive. I understood the opposite, and I need to access the hard drive via Wi-Fi from any machine... Too bad, if someone has a solution...

Hello,

I feel reassured now... I’ve had this hard drive for about 6 months and I can’t get it to work on Wi-Fi. Not finding any comments about this problem on forums, I thought it was just me who didn’t understand anything.

It works perfectly fine via USB, I’ve set up the Wi-Fi connection (so if my hard drive is on but not connected to the PC, I’m disconnected from the internet and connected to the hard drive via Wi-Fi), but I can’t find where I need to go from the PC desktop to access my files...

I tried what you suggested, Zyde, but with no results... I’m eagerly awaiting the solution because I still think we should be able to make it work... otherwise, it’s really false advertising...

Hello everyone,
Exactly the same problem, access via the "PC" world through USB poses no issue, but accessing the content of the drive via Wi-Fi seems impossible and certainly not intended (I say "seems").
My attempts have yielded the same results as the other contributors on the subject...
I only point to the artistic blur of the documentation on the subject (if we can call it documentation!)
Access via a PC over Wi-Fi only allows for modifying the settings (admin/admin), period.
In any case, it is not seen in the drive hierarchy under "Computer."
It seems that this is not the case for the Mac world (see the FAQs on the Memup site), but I don't have a Mac to test!
I have the drive, I’m keeping it, but I'm not very happy... but I'm holding on to hope...
Best regards

I confirm that it works on Windows 8 in any case! Open the file explorer after connecting to the memup Wi-Fi, and in the network section on the left, the hard drive appears. Otherwise, type the name of the disk in the address bar after the \\ and it works. I insist, but I really want to help you so much...

Ok, thanks for this clarification!
That explains it: I'm on Windows XP...

I just tried it on Windows 7 and it works too (click on network and enable network discovery and follow the prompts if the hard drive doesn't show up)
Good luck!

Re-Hello everyone,
It indeed seems to work on Vista.
Not very professional as a procedure:
1) - Connect the drive via Wifi
2) - The process requires a Pin code (no 8-digit code provided with the drive)
3) - Click on Ignore and continue (at the bottom of the screen)
4) - Right-click on Network in the "Computer" tree
5) - Select "Map Network Drive"
6) - The process suggests the letter z: (why not?)
7) - In the "Folder" field, write riowifistor\\disk1\doc
It seems to be case insensitive!
(doc is indeed one of the 4 or 5 directories seen on the USB-connected drive!!)

In the "Computer" tree I can retrieve:
[crobardisquereseau] doc(\\riowifistor\disk1) (Z:)

You can't make this up and it's not in the directory .....

A proper documentation would have been welcome, especially since the box mentions:
Compatible with: Windows XP, etc etc ..... 7 or later

So I took the liberty of insisting, after testing it also works on XP, but the previous times I didn't include the term "disk1" (grrrrrrr!) in the "Folder" field of the network drive "connection" grid ...... See Marion's email, I hope she will read these lines ...

I hope I'm clear .....

Thank you for your insights, I will continue my tests,
Sincerely to all and have a good evening

Hello everyone,

The method explained by bskbbe doesn't work for me with riowifistor\\disk1\doc (step 7)

After some trial and error, I found the syntax that works for me:
\\KIOSKLSWIFI\Public

with KIOSKLSWIFI being the name of my hard drive
and Public is the root directory (by default) of my hard drive

I hope this helps some of you,

tr
