JVC GR-D21 camcorder screen problem

Hello,
I have a little problem with the JVC GR-D21 camcorder; regarding the liquid crystal display, it stays completely black while I am filming. I have removed the cover, and furthermore, I cannot view anything on this screen. What should I do? Is it broken, or is it a simple manipulation that I might have overlooked? Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Good evening,
I have the same problem with my JVC GR-D21 camcorder. I've had it for 3 years, and you? I get a black screen when I turn on the device, but it can play a previously recorded tape. I got a quote for the repair, and they're asking me for 150 € to fix it: malfunction at the video sensors level.
I don't know if I should have it repaired???
What do you think?

I have this problem too!
I was told that by bringing it to a multimedia repair store with a warranty, like Darty.
And by bringing the invoice with it, you can change the CCD sensor.
It's the CCD sensor that is causing the issue; in fact, it’s in another topic where many people resolved their problem this way!

Hello.
There may be two simultaneous faults with your camcorder. The first on VCR (player) mode, the head may be dirty. The second in camera (rec.) mode, which comes from the CCD sensor malfunction.
Therefore, proceed by elimination.
Set the cam to VCR (player) mode and insert a 1k7 tape containing a recording. Press the play button to watch. If the result is positive, then your camcorder suffers from trauma to the CCD sensor.

Hello
I have the same problem: black screen when I turn it on, but you can see a recorded cassette. It's the digital sensor that is no longer working. It is defective, and it's JVC's fault. See the list of camcorders with defective sensors: https://fr.jvc.com/
Among the camcorders is the JVC GR-D21E (named as such on the invoice and referred to as GR-D21 in the manual)
So normally we shouldn't have to pay anything for the repair since it's JVC's fault.
Best regards

Hello, I have the same problem and I already had it repaired in July 2006 for 126 euros. I'm disgusted, I'm giving up. JVC

Hello,
I followed Sylvie's advice and brought my camcorder, the list of defective devices located on the JVC site, and my purchase invoice (with the expired warranty) to the place where I bought my camcorder (Darty). They changed the sensor without any problem and for free. Very quick repair.
Best regards.

Hi, I just had the same problem...

I can watch recordings in PLAY mode... but when I want to film, I get a nice black screen as if the lens cap is still on the viewfinder...

I also have a JVC GR-D21E... and I've had it for about 3 years... I'm really frustrated because I have to go on vacation in 10 days...

Does anyone have any information on JVC's support regarding this issue??

Thanks in advance...

HELLO,

I had the same problem and the repair is covered by the manufacturer even if the camcorder warranty has expired (typically 2 years warranty)
for my part, I bought it at DARTY (repair time, you should allow 1 month)

Salut, j'ai acheté un caméscope JVC il y a juste 11 mois. Juste au moment où je voudrais partir en voyage, je me suis aperçu que le bouton de zoom est bloqué. Que faire ?
