Hello,
I have a JVC digital camcorder model GR-DVX4 with an installation CD for JLip Video Capture and JLip Video Producer that I never installed on my PC. This weekend I tried to install the program to work on my videos and back them up, but nothing works— I can’t detect my camcorder or transfer my videos to my PC!!! I connected it as instructed via an RS-232C connection
can someone help me solve my problem? thanks in advance

Good evening, the RS-232C link is the “serial” connection that is no longer much used on modern PCs! You can plug in a ball mouse, an old keyboard, a 56k modem... but for video transfer... it's not possible!! Your cam is a mini-DV, so it has a FireWire output, so you must connect it to the PC via this interface. If your PC isn’t equipped with it, you’ll need to get a FireWire card PCI (desktop PC) or PCMCIA or ExpressCard, if it’s a laptop. And with Movie Maker, with nothing else to add, it should work!
