Hello, I have a problem with my antivirus (Avast) that gets stuck at 0% during scans. No scan works because no files are scanned according to the analysis, as it states scanned files: and there's nothing there; except for the quick and thorough scans where a file named PID 940 is being scanned, but it remains stuck at 0% with that file being scanned... This happens on two computers, an old Windows XP and a brand new one with Windows 8. I have also noticed bugs with Windows 8 and Avast because since using the Windows 8 Explorer, I have never been able to scan anything by right-clicking and analyzing with Avast. Even the Avast icon in the taskbar, which is supposed to spin when Avast scans something, does not spin when I launch this scan... I hope you can help me find a solution to these two problems, and thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows 8 / Chrome 29.0.1547.66

NEVER UNINSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS THROUGH ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS
BECAUSE THERE ARE ALWAYS ACTIVE FILES LEFT
UNINSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS USING SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING AND THEN TYPE ON GOOGLE: your antivirus + removal tool
EXAMPLE: norton removal tool
!!! (It’s my job to uninstall antiviruses and install others :-)
And always have one antivirus per PC otherwise it creates conflicts :-) -
No, I have 16 GB of RAM, it shouldn't be that which is blocking...

Torpedo
Use the uninstall utility called aswclear

Sure, here's the translation:
"Okay, it's all good after reinstalling it, it's working, but at the beginning of the quick scan, I saw PID 711, in any case a PID with a number in the 700s, and I would like, if possible, for you to give me information about the PID file that changes number... and thanks in advance." -
If it's fine after reinstallation, I suggest marking it as resolved
As for the PID, it's a bit long to explain

Hello Torpedo
Have you tried to repair it via programs and features in Avast?
For Windows XP, it's in Add or Remove Programs
Go to Avast, then modify/uninstall
Wait for the interface to load, then choose the repair option
Restart after the operation
