Hello,
I currently have an Acer F5-573G-595H laptop running Windows 10 that I purchased in early 2018.
I had McAfee pre-installed on it, and when the free version expired, I installed Total AV which turned out to be a real piece of junk, then switched to Avast. However, my PC has been slowed down since this installation.
I therefore ran a scan with Avast, which confirmed that there were slowdowns, but I have to pay to resolve them. I asked Avast to clean everything it could for free before complementing it with a cleanup using AdwCleaner. My PC is still slow when opening my session, a document, or the internet (note that my connection is terrible).
My questions are as follows: Can Avast deliberately slow down my PC to get me to switch to the paid version? If so, how can I prevent that? Should I change antivirus and which one should I choose? (I’ve heard about Kaspersky; is it a good idea to switch to that antivirus?)
Could the latest Windows 10 update be responsible for these slowdowns...?
Thank you in advance for your help,
N.

hi
to keep it short in my reply, uninstall Avast with its uninstallation tool >> Avastclear
download it to your desktop click here
the uninstallation is done in safe mode, Avastclear will prompt you to restart in SAFE MODE
once the uninstallation is complete, you will need to restart your PC and Windows Defender should "take over"
for your questions >> can Avast intentionally slow down my PC so that I give in to the paid version
I would say no, but with W10 it is not always "compatible"
for Kaspersky, you can try it and if it doesn't suit you, you can uninstall it
for Windows Defender, it does "practically" the same job as free AVs
after uninstalling Avast, your connection will be better/normal again
if you have questions...
