Medieval 2 Total War issue

Hi
I've had my Medieval 2 Total War game installed on my PC for a year and have had no issues playing it. I used it this morning...
This afternoon I wanted to install the Kingdoms expansion!!
So I started the installation and boom, at the end, an error message appeared!!
So I went back to Medieval 2 Total War to play simply! And now I can't launch it at all..
An error message pops up right at the start :( "Medieval 2 Total War has encountered an unknown error and will now close"
I then thought I would uninstall it to fix the issue! And now it's impossible, another message pops up "The string ID_INSTALL_PROGRESS_TITLE could not be found in the string table"!
I really don't know what to do!!!

If you have CCleaner, try cleaning the registry with it; if you don’t, it’s not really much use either.
After uninstalling the game, make sure that the game folder is completely empty (after uninstalling, of course).
It could be remnants of your extension that are causing the installation to bug.

I still can't uninstall it!!!! Yet I've already hit it with CCleaner and nothing! Still the same problem.
