Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite and for the last 2 days, I haven't been able to use the Fn key on my keyboard with the F6 and F7 keys (brightness adjustment). The other keys work with Fn

I don't know what steps to take to solve this problem.

Thank you in advance for your response
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

hello everyone

I had the same issue with the fn key on the p300d

go to: start > All programs > TOSHIBA > Utilities > Toshiba Flash Card Utility Settings
check the box: disable all function keys, apply and ok
then do the same by unchecking the box: disable all function keys, apply and ok

that should work without installing any drivers :)

To avoid issues with FN key combinations, the following utilities and drivers must be installed in the following order:

Chipset Utility
Display Driver
Toshiba Value Added Package

You can find each of them at this link: https://fr.dynabook.com/support/drivers/

It works, temporarily, but the only problem is that turning off the computer cancels this operation.

If you click on "restart flashcards" in Start >> All Programs >> Toshiba >> Utilities ... Then, the graphical menu for the function keys reappears as if by magic. And of course, everything works!!!
Good luck figuring out the logic at Toshiba!!!

Hello, I have a similar but VERY ANNOYING issue!

I also have a TOSHIBA with VISTA!

The FN key doesn't work anymore and I can no longer activate the wireless function (FN+F8) and therefore connect to the internet via WIFI!

Do you have a solution?

Well, I just installed and tested most of the Toshiba utilities to solve my issue with the Fn key not working, or rather the Fn key works but we can't make Fn+F# combinations.

Actually, you need to install
HOTKEY UTILITY

and don't forget to install the Common Module, which is important for its proper functioning.

There you go, I'm happy now.
Good luck with your issue.

Hello everyone .... as for the FN key and the disabled bar or only working with 2 or 3 keys
you need to go to the C drive, and under the brand of the PC you should go to the FlashCard file and activate TcrdMain ... good luck to everyone !!

You need to go grab the drivers from the official Toshiba site, those titled "flashcards..."

I did it and it works since then,

kisses!

I also have a problem with the FN key
it only works with F1 and F2
I went to the Toshiba site but there is no "common module"
where can I find that?
thank you

I listened to a piece of advice that suggested I update the BIOS

This is a warning: do not download the BIOS update and never execute it on your machine because it will fry the BIOS and the motherboard, which happened to me

Fortunately, Toshiba acknowledged the issue and replaced my motherboard for free

I would like to know where to find ATK hotkey ????

Especially don’t try to flash anything, you’ll ruin everything.

Hello,
Reinstalling the drivers is not useful. However, if you click on "restart flash cards" in Start >> All Programs >> Toshiba >> Utilities ... Then the graphical menu for the function keys magically reappears, and most importantly, the keys start working again!!!
That's the logic at Toshiba.

Thank you for your response, but it still doesn't work. My Fn key works, but it's just with F6 and F7 that it doesn't work!!!

I’ve had a similar problem to yours. In my case, it was an issue with the motherboard of the computer. I recommend contacting the brand of your computer (Toshiba, then). I think they will ask you to send it to them...
Good luck.

My Fn key isn't working anymore either, and on top of that, my Toshiba power management has disappeared!

Hello,

Check if there's anything stuck in it?

You can, as I said, take it apart and see if it's being jammed by an object!

I don't think it's a hardware problem but rather a software issue with the power management!

You need to reinstall the installation CD!

Well, that's what I was told! But the problem for me is that the installation CD was lost during the move! If anyone has a solution for me??

Thank you!

Hello
I just read the entire topic.
I see that many people have the same problem as me, which is that the Fn key is no longer working.
I just installed "common module" as per Julie's response, I now have the tablet mouse icon appearing in the taskbar but still no Fn key working.

In my opinion, there must be another software to install, but I wouldn't want to test and install them one by one.
(even if that's what I'm going to do).

Good luck

Well, I read what you wrote and I uninstalled some software and discovered that if the Fn key is not working, you need to install ATK hotkey and everything started working again.

As I was saying, I installed HOTKEY UTILITY
and it's working great now.

To find the driver, since it's a Toshiba PC, you will find everything on the official Toshiba website.

Good luck!

Here are all the drivers I installed for my Toshiba; if it doesn't work with these, I won't know why.

- Common module
- Display Driver
- Cardbus Driver
- Touch Pad Driver
- Touch Pad OnOff Utility
- Touch Pad Utility
- Controls
- Utilities
- Assist
- Hotkey Utility

Hi, does this driver only work with XP?

I'm currently on Vista and I've tried to install the "hotkey utility" driver but it doesn't do anything.

Is there an equivalent software for Vista?

After reinstalling the operating system on my TOSHIBA L550, I couldn't get the FN+F8 (enable Wi-Fi - disable Wi-Fi) and FN+F9 (enable-disable touchpad) keys to work...
I managed to get them working by installing these drivers:

TOSHIBA Hotkey utility
TOSHIBA value added package

These drivers are available on the TOSHIBA website. Here is the site; you just need to fill it out: https://fr.dynabook.com/support/drivers/

Thank you for the information, but I filled it out and I still can't activate my Wi-Fi. Please, I request more information.
