S.O.S; who can help me? I can no longer print with my Canon Pixma iP 1200. This message keeps appearing; I tried the reset printer maneuver without success; what do you advise me to do? Thank you for your possible help.

Hello,
When you change the cartridge, the printer performs a head cleaning cycle to "prime" the cartridge and remove air. This cleaning cycle consumes ink. This ink is collected in a tank (Ink Pad, Waste Ink Tank) inside the inkjet printer - for all models of all brands.
Of course, there are counters that keep track of the level of the tank and the number of drops that have fallen onto the tray during borderless prints.
In short, over the years this tank fills up and there comes a time when it's full....
And the counter in question indicates this to the printer, which then goes into error mode and prompts you to contact a QUALIFIED technician - not just any random person - to intervene on your printer.
And that's the case with your printer.... its tank is full.
Given its age, this is the most logical probability. Although none of the possible malfunctions can be ruled out at this stage...

You can get an idea about the "IPTOOLS" program.
I advise you to try to obtain it FOR FREE. It's easily found, I would have liked to give you the link but my response would have been removed.
In short: search GOOGLE for IPTOOL CANON maintenance program for IP1200 IP1600
Since the tank is full of ink and to prevent it from overflowing, you will need to divert the outlet of this tank to an external tank that you can empty at will, or change/clean the tank.
There are technical documents on how to proceed. These documents are for internal use by CANON, but occasionally leak out...
It's your move.
Best regards.

Hello
you probably put in some refilled cartridges, or did you refill them yourself
you must have a chip problem that hasn't been reset,
this happens with cheap "compatible" cartridges
solution if that's the case, buy a genuine cartridge from your printer brand
or at worst buy certified cartridges with the chip reset
