Hello,
I am currently facing a very strange problem:
my computer (desktop) freezes when my Ethernet cable is connected.
Until now, I had never experienced freezing issues with this computer. Recently, quite suddenly (and not corresponding to the installation of any software or anything), my PC started to freeze, leaving me with no option but to force shutdown.
I then restart it disconnected from all peripherals, and there are no bugs when I reconnect them one by one. I realize that the freezes occur when the Ethernet cable is connected.
If the cable is already plugged in, then the PC freezes right from the start at the slightest mouse movement. Without an Ethernet connection, the PC works perfectly even with multiple heavy tasks running at the same time, but as soon as the Ethernet cable is connected, the PC slows down more and more until it freezes.
Have you ever observed this? If so, is there a solution?
HELP (I’m gonna go crazy) XD
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 27.0.1453.110

Here I am, I know I wake up a bit late, but for anyone having the same problem as me: I recently took matters into my own hands, I performed a registry integrity scan and applied the necessary corrections. It was indeed a registry issue, so I thank nico33160 for his valuable help :)

I've already had this problem, which I solved by doing a system restore (I chose a restore point from about a week ago).
However, it's also likely that there is an issue with the network card (even if it may be integrated into the motherboard...

Well, then you need to check what the brand and model of your network card is (use some software for that, SiSoft Sandra Lite if I remember correctly is pretty good).
Then use another PC to download the drivers from the internet (touslesdrivers.com) and once you find them, use a USB key to install them on your PC... that could solve the problem... -

There is new information: the PC no longer completely freezes (forcing me to shut it down) but only for a few minutes at more or less regular intervals.
Moreover, I forgot to mention that I use powerline adapters, which may be important.-
I have little mastery of CPL, I have no idea of the importance, but then I've never heard of any issues with it...
Have you done a bunch of security analyses? The slowdown or freeze could be due to viruses...
Check also (via CCleaner) that you don’t have new programs launching at startup on the computer... Any programs that are not essential can be removed from startup and only opened when you need them... the only important ones being the antivirus, anti-spyware if you have resident protection, and the firewall if you have one different from the one offered by Windows. -

I completely dismantled all the components of the PC (graphics card, motherboard, network card, etc.) and reassembled everything to prevent any faulty connections, and I also did a thorough cleaning.
My computer then regains its usual speed and the internet works perfectly for the first 10 minutes before it starts to freeze again when connected via ethernet.
I can't see where the problem might be coming from and I'm starting to lose hope...-

After I've searched a bit on the internet, I see other possibilities like errors in the registry... if you speak a bit of English, you'll understand a lot of things... but well, you shouldn't do everything... to fix a registry error, you need software for that... if we try a software for every possibility, it takes a long time, so I advise you to focus on the cable issue first and then the registry, the other possibilities are, in my opinion, less likely...
