I would like to know if we can connect a desktop unit to a laptop because my fixed screen is broken and I would like to know if I can share my files from the desktop to the laptop.

Connecting a desktop computer to a laptop to display the image is not possible. The reverse is true. As for sharing folders between a desktop and a laptop, yes, it is possible; you will need a network cable and to configure both computers so that they recognize each other.
