[freebox hd] TV image colors Solved

Question

Hello,

I have the Freebox HD and here is my problem: since the picture kept getting scrambled (small blocks appearing, freezing image, sound glitching), I wanted to try connecting the box with the Ethernet cable and restarting the Freebox (from the menus). To do this, I had to move my ADSL box and briefly disconnect the telephone line from the box.

I followed the above procedure, and when the picture appeared, it was... green! From one channel to another, the colors are saturated. Even the menu is green?

Can you help me???

Hello, the problem with the green color often comes from a poorly connected SCART cable. --  The only computer that is truly safe is a turned-off computer... and even then... I'm not so sure.

Hi

you need to initialize the HDD in this case

1-connect the two boxes with an Ethernet cable (yellow cable)
2-unplug the HDD from the power supply (only the HDD, not the ADSL!!!)
3-hold the middle button of the HDD and reconnect the power cable at the same time, do not let go until it displays firmware

4-then wait for the firmware update of the HDD

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem as you. My Freebox HD connected to the TV, after a certain period of time, the displayed image tends towards green, all the light and bright areas tend towards green. However, I manage to limit the spread by adjusting the brightness and contrast but the image quickly becomes very dark and therefore impossible to watch.
However, I realized that it wasn’t the Freebox but rather my TV!?! Indeed, when the image was green and I turned off the Freebox, there were still some green traces that persisted even though the TV wasn’t receiving any signal! I tried changing the inputs (scart 1 and 2, HDMI, S-VIDEO, VGA, etc... still the same result).
I don't really know what to do except contact the seller of my TV and see what’s going on, but I really don’t think it’s the Freebox’s fault.
For your information, my TV is a Peekton 32LC100HDR.

Hello, the problem is BLACK AND WHITE!!!!

I just subscribed to Free NDI and for a few days it worked fine, but for the last two days all the whites on the screen have turned pink. Then now I’m back to the 60s in BLACK AND WHITE!!!!!

HD is GREAT!!!!

I thought it was my TV's SCART cable, but my PlayStation works fine!
Then I think it’s the SCART cable connecting Free HD to my TV, but I’m not sure!
I unplugged and replugged..... and so on, NOTHING still in black and white
Plus, impossible to reach them all weekend

Hello,I also had a few color issues when connecting my HD box to the TV: no red. But the image was clear. I thought it could only be a connection issue, and I was right: the SCART was poorly connected. But I have another problem: the Free SCART came with two connectors: white and red.Problem:1. Free provides no indication as to which of the two colors should be connected to the antenna output. I contacted Free via direct chat, but I received no answer to this question; they sent me a link that doesn't indicate anything.2. The connectors "float" once connected. They detach very easily and don't secure well.Finally, today, I had image adjustment problems (freezing, multiple squares, bands, etc.) and I initialized my box - firmware update - the day before yesterday!Here are my first impressions after two days of use.Best regards.

Here is my new screen (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW), I wanted to use the HD output from my Freebox, and the result was a green image; I called Samsung who sent me another screen, same issue; I returned the cable for testing, same result.

I have the same problem, the dominant color is green, and it's not coming from my TV (Samsung 32LC2D)
because when I change the TV source to TNT or Analog tuner, the colors are perfect.
The problem definitely comes from my Freebox HD. The issue persists after restarting and resetting...

Thank you all for your comments,I've finally managed to solve my green color problem; it was indeed a poorly connected SCART socket. It was a silly mistake, but I don’t know, given the other messages left by other forum members, if this will solve everyone's issue;However, there is still a problem; the quality of the image (and sound): it's like a bottleneck... which results in interruptions, freezes, localized pixelation in certain areas, etc... Is my power supply insufficient? When I restart the Freebox, it offers me the "low bandwidth" option (first 10 channels, without Canal +); if I choose the "classic TV" option, I encounter that infamous image/sound quality issue again.

I also have a problem with the image that stutters as well as the sound!!!!
I called the hotline 3 times and they told me to reboot this and that, which I did several times, and it still doesn't work, and now they set me up a paid appointment of course, 49 or 69 euros if it turns out to be my fault, if it came from Free it would be free.
It's really a scandal to be a subscriber and to be scammed like this for an intervention.

@ Sanka who says "it's the best HD" because he has a black and white image... I don't see the connection.
Indeed, HD is great! But your problem has nothing to do with HD technology.

Personally, I just subscribed to a Free package.
I receive the TV but, "coincidentally..." my image is in black and white (but of super quality).

To those who have this symptom (TV in black and white), how far are you from the DSLAM?

On the other hand, if someone has called Free, what solution did they offer for your problem? (settings? - but which ones..., changing the HD TV box, ...)

I agree, you need to have a sense of humor, it always helps. And on forums, it’s not always easy to tell if a guy is joking or not.

Anyway, if it’s a frequency issue, it sucks to have to change TVs. So I’m going to do some tests with an LCD screen to see.

Good evening,

I just solved my green image problem, and this might help someone else...
While closely inspecting my scart connector, I noticed that one of the small "pins" aligned in the round end (connected to the HD box) was bent. I straightened it and reconnected it, making sure to align everything properly with the "TV" socket on the HD box.
The image is perfect, colors are spot on.
Hoping this can help someone else.

I also have a problem with my HD box. The picture is clear but it's in black and white... occasionally the color comes back for a split second. I tried resetting my box but it didn't change anything. Does anyone have a solution???

I also had a black and white TV with the Freebox HD box that I just got last week.
I finally have color: I was on the AV2 SCART of the TV, and I switched to the AV1 SCART.
Some TVs do not allow a decoder to be connected to the AV2 socket.
I struggled with Free's chat support, they misled me because they probably don't have this issue mentioned in their documentation.....
You also have to be careful with the connection of the DIN plug of the SCART cable from the box.

Hello, I have an LG LCD television with my Freebox HD connected via HDMI. There's a small problem, the image is getting fuzzy and turns green especially in dark colors...(the same with the analog antenna). I contacted customer service and this afternoon the technician told me that this problem might come from the Freebox HD! According to him, I wouldn't be the only one... he will change the motherboard in 10 days and if it persists, he will change the screen. For your information, I have already burnt out a Philips Mach Line CRT television (connected via SCART with my Free HD) and it had the same symptoms.... Quite strange.... What do you think? As soon as he changes the motherboard, I will keep you updated if the problem persists.

Hello everyone.

I followed your advice for the connections of my PC (with capture card) and the free HD:
_ audio: RCA/RCB cable (provided by free with the SCART)
_ video: S-Video
I am set to PAL on my capture card (it's a Pinnacle).
But my problem is as follows: I have sound and color. However, the colors are strange. I have "neon" colors in some places. Sometimes the reds and greens are inverted but not across the entire image.
Where could this come from?

Hello, I have a problem as well with my Freebox HD that I've had for over a month. For the past week, after a minute or immediately, the color turns to black and white. What should I do? I've already connected the SCART cable to AV1 or AV2 with no difference? I wanted to watch a recording that was made in color, but it's also in black and white. Hello I've been having problems with the HD for 15 days - I've contacted Free who keeps giving me the same responses: reboot, start up the hard drive, hard reboot, changing cables, ports, etc... : despite that, since October 28th my images have suddenly turned black and white, with some touches of blue and bright green. The TV image is fine when it is not connected to the HD. Does anyone have a solution to activate the HD change?? Thank you

I just had the same issue with the green color... a little check of the SCART cable and boom, the problem was solved... :)
However, I still have the Free HD that bugs at certain times, but according to close sources, it's a heat issue because the FREE HD is also a hard drive and logically should have a ventilation system, which it doesn't... cost-saving issue... A little trick that helped me reduce the bugs is to place the box on its side... it's not very pretty but it has the merit of being effective...

Hi everyone I have the solution for those who have a black and white image on their Freebox HD and only have one SCART socket. You need to connect your Freebox with the special cable that comes in the box. It's a cable with a SCART connector on one end (for the TV) and on the other end a connector that looks like S-Video and two red and white plugs for an external sound amplifier.  You must not connect directly with the yellow socket!  Then if the image is still black and white, you need to go to the video menu (yellow button on the Freebox) and select RGB. I think of a simple action: you press the central button of your HD, you unplug and replug your HD while keeping the button pressed. When you have reconnected your HD, you release the central button. The HD will reset itself; this works for loss of color or absence of function of your HD. Best regards.
