What to think of genuine refillable cartridges? Solved

Hello,

I bought 18XL refillable cartridges for my XP-302. I would like to clarify that I am talking about genuine user-refillable cartridges. They are transparent to visualize the ink level during filling, they have a chip that updates itself, and a refill cap.

I have had no difficulty or problems, and everything has been working wonderfully for about three months now, and I've already made some nice savings....

At the same time, I know this type of cartridge and how it works very well and for a long time....

However, what bothers me a bit is that when I browse sites that are supposed to discuss refillable cartridges, NO ONE talks about them, and the few who do are very critical and dogmatic on the subject.....

So, I would like to know how it has gone for others.

Is there anyone interested in sharing their experience and "feelings" regarding these refillable cartridges????

Is there anyone interested in giving a well-argued and factual opinion????

Rechargeable cartridges have become really advanced; I use them on a Brother and an Epson, and they work great.
Thanks to sites like those selling rechargeable cartridges that really do a great job, with specific inks for the printers! Amazing quality.

I go to a small store that specializes in this field. They refill color ink cartridges by injecting the base colors with a syringe and follow the process to mix them. The cost is minimal (30% of a new cartridge) and the result is very good. For black ink, they confirm that the price difference between the two methods is minimal and that it is preferable to buy a new cartridge.

I bought the same type of cartridge from "ecological cartridge." I agree with you, it's much cheaper and I was happy to discover this cartridge that is unknown to the general public.
Until the day a cartridge leaked and I think it destroyed my EPSON printer that cost me 200 euros.
So I don't know what to think about these cartridges because they served me well for 8 months.

I believe that today's printers are designed to last a certain amount of time as the manufacturers want, and just because a cartridge leaks doesn't mean it should stop working. I don't think it's the fault of refillable cartridges; it can happen with an original cartridge too!!!
I use cartridges bought from the same place as Hamzou, and they've been working very well for 2 years; they are the T0711. Since then, I've recommended this type of cartridge to many people, and many are satisfied!!!

Knowing that by refilling them between 3 and 4 times, you've already amortized the printer, I think it's profitable!!!!!!

There is something a thousand times better than refillable cartridges: it's a CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) kit. I bought and installed it on my new printer "Canon MG5350", and now there's no need to remove the cartridges. It has 100 ml reservoirs for each color outside of the printer, connected to the cartridges with a tubing system. It's very, very convenient.

You don't get your hands dirty anymore and there's no need for a syringe... I bought it for 50 euros on eBay, which included the 5 refillable 100 ml reservoirs plus the filled cartridges.

I highly recommend it. It costs much less than refillable cartridges.

I just understood the problem encountered by Hamzou. You must have accidentally pierced the refillable cartridge while recharging it!! You need to take precautions when recharging the cartridges and be careful not to pierce the inner seal! In any case, I thank Pub removed Modération CCM for the savings they are making me; )!!!

Hello everyone!
Sorry for bringing this topic back up, but I want to share my experience on this subject:
I have always used Canon printers, which come with expensive cartridges and electronic chips. At first, I bought Canon cartridges. But since I got tired of paying a fortune, I bought a Canon cartridge resetter from a German website back in 2010, along with syringes and ink. At that time, the market for refillable cartridges wasn't as open as it is today. The result: I had to pierce the Canon cartridges and fill them up, and reset the chip each time. It was okay, but after 15 or 20 refills, the cartridge was ruined and started leaking.
Time passed, and then I got into the CISS that a member mentioned, also called continuous ink supply, with 5 huge tanks holding a lot of ink and the cartridges connected by small flexible PVC tubes. It was great at first, no need to refill the cartridges, very convenient. But I quickly became disillusioned! First problem: there was always air suction in those small tubes between the big external tanks and the cartridges, so I had to regularly "agitate" the CISS to get the air suction out. Then, it was a bit of a DIY job since I could never completely close the printer because I had to ensure the tubes were passing to the cartridges. Since I have a combined printer scanner (CANON MP640), using the scanner became tricky and impossible to use the rear paper feeder because the scanner was raised enough to block the opening flap. And the third problem: ink leaked inside the printer without me realizing it, and once the sponges inside absorbed everything, the printer began to "dribble" ink everywhere, and when I disassembled it, I can't tell you the total mess! I couldn't notice it because the ink tanks are so big that when the ink level drops a little, a HUGE amount of ink is pushed into the printer.
So, I then tried refillable cartridges thinking that all these problems would be resolved. Indeed, they were! No issue with PVC tubing since they are cartridges, no air suction problems as the cartridges dispense well, and no leaking ink because you need to refill them from time to time, which is a good sign! (I mean that the ink goes where it should on the paper or photo and not into the sponges!!!)
I got my cartridges from the eco-friendly cartridges site, and I must say that they are of good quality and inexpensive! You have a reservoir that is very easily accessible with the syringe, and they are auto-reset!
The only downside is that you need to refill them regularly, but I prefer that over the mess of the CISS or the money spent on original cartridges.
I hope this helps some to decide on this purchase because this is really where the savings are! Manufacturers like Epson, Canon, or HP are literally raking in profits on cartridges! Plus, they engage in planned obsolescence!
And for those who think this would prematurely ruin their print head, I assure you (or not): it makes absolutely no difference; sooner or later, even with original cartridges, your print head will be dead. (But, honestly, with all the printers I’ve had, it’s more likely sooner than later!!!)
So, it’s better to save on cartridge costs by using refillable cartridges.
