I already asked this question in management but, having received no answer, I'm reposting it in Finance.

Is it possible to find a French version of Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Deluxe?

If not, is there a way to find an equivalent software (free)?

Hello;

I suggest you do the following:

1-Make a backup of your current accounting on a USB stick or CD/RW, or even an external hard drive to avoid losing it
2-Properly uninstall the currently installed version and restart the machine
3-Download and install Money Plus Sunset from
this link
4-Download and install the update patch for MsMoney by carefully following the installation instructions from this link
5-Launch MsMoney from the backup made previously

I know it works because I did it recently >> See this link and the whole topic >> To verify if it worked, I tried it myself and indeed it works (it was around the end of March beginning of April) >> The installation of the French patch even for this US version

Hello;

If you have the installation CD for this version, try installing the update patch for MsMoney available HERE by following the application instructions, and I believe (with some caution, as I've only tried it once) that this patch will change the Sunset version to French by converting it to MsMoney 2006 while keeping your backups made under Sunset.

For my part, I installed the English version of Sunset, I restored my Money backup, and I closed the program.
Then I installed the Microsoft Money 2005 patch without uninstalling Sunset.
My software works very well under Windows 8.1.
The installation of Money 2005 must obviously be done in the same directory as Sunset.
For my part:

"D:\Program Files \Microsoft Money 2005\"

I have followed the procedure correctly, and I am able to create a backup with sunset that recognizes the password for my folder.
However, after installing the French patch for money 2005 in the sunset folder, money 2005 accepts the restoration of the backup made with sunset but refuses my password, which has not changed between the operations.
Do you have a solution that would allow me to get money in French back?

Have you tried installing the patch directly, without using your Sunset version, and restarting MsMoney from your last valid backup, and of course using your password since the backup was made with it?

Thank you very much for your response.
I’m new, I didn’t know I had to create a new personalized message.
I have already tried all the tips and tricks I found online.
The only positive solution I obtained was by testing the procedure above, but with Sunset the language is in US, and I can't reopen Money 2005 in French because it refuses my unchanged password and I can't restore the backup made with Sunset.
I’m not very comfortable with US language and would really like to get back to French.

If you can help me I thank you in advance.

No problem regarding the non-personalized subject, but it avoids "sticking" additions to resolved questions.
1- How long have you been using the Sunset version? (If I remember correctly, for testing I had installed this version and then installed the patch over it: which translated into French, but I think the password is causing issues for that.
If you have the option, provided you haven't been using Sunset for years, to print your accounting and, as indicated in my last message, to re-enter everything by downloading only the patch which reinstalls the software in the French version >> It might take a bit of time to do if there are a lot of entries, but I believe it's a solution (you should avoid setting a password since it is linked to a version of Money and prevents backups from being recoverable by another version.

Hello,

I know nothing about this software, but if Sunset is US, it’s possible that the issue comes from the keyboard recognition.
Basically, the password might be recorded in qwerty instead of azerty.

I am making comparisons over several years.While searching on Google, I found a site that provides this information:(this site retrieves or deletes passwords for a fee)1 - Incompatibility between different versions of Money:This case mainly arises during reinstallation or when changing computers.It is impossible to open an MS Money document with an earlier version of Money.For example: An MS Money 2003 document cannot be opened with the MS Money 2002 program.In this case, the following error message appears:"The password you just entered is incorrect. Please try again." Be careful, opening a Money file with a newer version of the Money program converts the file! Be sure to make backups... If you are certain you are using the correct version of the program, try performing an "Internet Update" of Money. Also note that Money is an integral part of the MS Works Suite. You may have installed a newer version of Works than your original version of Money...Newer version:It seems to be my case since in Sunset I can retrieve the Money 2005 backup with the password. Hello;  I suggest you check out this link which is identical to yours and resolved it. I advise against purchasing this software which allegedly retrieves or deletes passwords because it's not straightforward in my opinion. When you write, "I make a backup with Sunset but when I tried to reopen Money 2005 with this backup, the password is no longer accepted because Money 2005 is an earlier version than Sunset."  I don't quite understand because you either use Sunset or MsMoney 2005, but using a backup from one to open the other doesn't make sense.  I suggest you do as stated earlier: 1-keep Sunset in your programs (just in case) 2-don't forget to make a backup 3-download and install only the update patch (following the installation instructions) as a standalone program, then open MsMoney 2005 from your backup, preferably from a removable drive. To summarize, until now I was using Money 2005 with Windows 7 on my old laptop.
Since then, I purchased a new PC equipped with Windows 8.
I installed Money 2005 on this new PC and tried in vain to restore the last backup of Money 2005 made on the old PC with Windows 7.

I did some research on Google and downloaded the Money 2005 patch
for an update.
I placed the patch in (Money located in Program Files) I installed the patch as indicated, but I was unable to restore the backup.

I continued my research and found on the Microsoft website 2 versions of Money Sunset in US language available for free download and use.

I installed one of them and was able to restore the backup made with Money 2005
and create a "Money Sunset backup"

Money Sunset is in US language, I searched for a way to change it to French;
I read your above message where you mentioned that it could be put in French.
I followed the instructions mentioned above but did not achieve the expected result.
Do you have a solution to my problem?

Sorry for the late reply, but while doing some tests with a Sunset version in the US that I found online, I couldn't recover my backup, which I even managed to "crash," and fortunately, I have a second backup in case of trouble >> This means that this Sunset version is not compatible with the latest version of Microsoft MsMoney 2005, but as mentioned earlier, I installed the patch over a Sunset version (but which one, I don’t remember, but I will look for it) and this one was translated into French and replaced by MsMoney 2005 with the recovery of the backup.
For now, I haven't found the solution except for the one already proposed >> Edit all the compatibility made with Sunset US, install the update patch as if it were the MsMoney 2005 installation program, and re-enter everything >> It may seem a bit tedious, but even 10 years of compatibility can be done in half a day, the longest being the entry of third parties and categories; afterward, it’s repetitive for monthly operations (if you don't have much time, this can be done over several days as long as you still have the updated Sunset US version).
I will check tomorrow to see if I can find another solution, but I am not too optimistic!!
I also advise you to avoid passwords, which are often a source of problems, and to back up to one or two removable drives and not on the internal hard drive in case of a crash or other issues.

I need to find that famous Sunset version that I had tried, and maybe it will allow you to recover your current Sunset US backup.

As for backups, no problem, before each exit of money I always make 1 backup on each of my two external hard drives + 1 on the computer's hard drive.

Regarding the password, I understand that this poses a problem when updating money or changing the version of money, but that's because the software is designed that way or has a bug.
It doesn't seem normal to me not to use one, as this software contains information that should not be in everyone’s hands, and no one is safe from an intrusion into their PC even with an updated firewall. What do you think? Data collection
is in vogue!

If you have exhausted all my proposed solutions without result >> In my opinion, 2 solutions remain possible
1-Do as mentioned above >> Edit and re-enter everything >> Long but sure, and I am certain that with this solution your problem would already be solved because unfortunately no current software is compatible with these Microsoft versions (I’m not saying this to get rid of you, but I really don’t see many other ways to recover your accounts)
2-If I’m not mistaken, the problem posed by the Sunset US version is simply the language located in the toolbar because you can very well set the categories and third parties in French (unless I’m mistaken) and given the 4 or 5 options presented in the toolbar identical to MsMoney shouldn't pose you problems and would avoid you having to rebuild everything
3-Regarding the password, I don’t think it guarantees total protection of your accounting, especially since this software no longer allows online updates of stock prices as it used to, and finally I think the installed password is responsible for the transfer from Sunset US to MsMoney 2005 because that has been done and succeeded, but without a password
4-Have you tried removing the password imposed by Sunset US with the option >> File (at the top left) then password manager and delete it and then make a new backup and restart it after installing the patch (https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/help/469688 See this link]

I will take another look to see if I find something, but it seems uncertain to me and what I don’t quite understand is that it seems you have been using Sunset US for quite some time without problems with the language, and on top of that it allowed you to restore your MsMoney backup??
