Wanting to create a personal video with Windows Movie Maker, I record my video from my DV camcorder. Everything goes smoothly, I make a small edit, add effects, transitions, and music. I save the project and can play it with Windows Movie Maker.
So I decide to burn it to DVD with WINDOWS DVD CREATION, at that moment Windows Movie Maker announces that it will close in order to launch WINDOWS DVD CREATION.
The project loads into WINDOWS DVD CREATION and it is at this point that everything becomes complicated, WINDOWS DVD CREATION has encountered a problem and must close. After several attempts with the same result, I reopen Windows Movie Maker and my project and decide to save it on my PC in AVI format and there, the same problem, Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and must close.
Do you have a solution to my problem?
Is it a software bug?
Thank you in advance for your help

Hello,
I also have a problem with Windows Movie Maker (Vista): as soon as I launch the software, the message "Windows Movie Maker has stopped working" systematically appears, leading to the program closing.... Does anyone have a solution, please?

go fetch the latest codecs for update
Bopi
cannot be imported because the codec necessary for playback is not installed on your computer. If you have already downloaded and installed the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, then re-import the file. What should I do? I'm lost?? I need help!
I also have a problem with Windows Movie Maker on Vista Premium, but of a different kind...
I had started a little editing project with music and video, I saved it, and turned off the computer to take a break. However, when I wanted to resume my editing, each effect applied to my miniclips (fade, fade out+, slow down by half...) had turned into a black screen. Every time an effect was played, my screen remained black and returned to normal when no effect was present on the timeline...
In short, I already struggle with computers, and now I think I'll never make it in the world of cinema and special effects.
Any solutions?
Thanks

I had this problem where once I reopened the project, there were no effects or photos, just a black screen. I had to redo almost everything in fact. I go back to my effect, just add and then immediately delete it, and hit OK
and miraculously everything comes back, but I had to do that for all the photos, and every time I reopened the project, let's just say I was a bit pissed off. Now my problem after struggling a lot because I spent quite some time making this damn edit which lasts about 1 hour (maybe that's too long?) is that I can neither publish it on my computer nor on a DVD?????? The usual messages say to check that all videos and photos are still present.......
So if anyone has a solution, please be nice because I don’t want to redo everything, I spent a week on it??
Thank you so much.

I've been desperately searching for a solution to my problem on forums for 15 minutes, the same as you: I'm editing, with photos, effects, transitions, music, everything is working perfectly, I save, I come back, it's working, I continue editing...
And then just earlier, I reopen WMM and it no longer plays my edit, there are only black rectangles instead of the photos...
Your "solution" does indeed work, I've already tested it quickly, the problem is that my edit is 3 minutes and 50 seconds long (so imagine the number of photos...) and this is the second time it's crashed like this...
I don't (for now) have the courage to put the photos and their effects back and so on like I already did the first time.
I was wondering if anyone knew where this problem comes from??
Because I haven't moved my files or anything! My last action was, at 6 PM, to save my work. I'm really frustrated because I've spent a lot of time on this edit and it's not even finished. I'm so upset that I've "lost" everything.
If anyone can help???!!! :(

Save a man on the brink of a crisis? If you have the solution to the "not implemented" message that appears and prevents access to the project... thank you in advance!

Movie Maker is indeed very unstable and has limited anticipation.
You must handle it with care and prepare the work with minimal interventions.
I have also experienced quite a few setbacks at the beginning which I resolved using these methods.
However, it seems, from reading these forums, that configuration issues arise in some cases and I cannot help you with that:
I will therefore limit myself to repeating what I have already written on these forums:
Photos:
Movie Maker resizes them to 640 x 480 in all cases. It is therefore preferable to prepare the collections in this format before integrating them. This apparently avoids storing the manipulation in memory.
Inserting photos, music, clips
Manipulate with caution. Do not anticipate commands, that is to say, wait for the image of the requested work to reappear in the main viewer before proceeding with the next command.
Collection management
Do not change the position of items in folders.
However, items can be modified while remaining in place, Movie will take the modifications into account (even if it doesn’t change its display!).
Inserting transitions
Same remark as for photo insertions: one by one, no copy-paste.
Inserting text
If you use it, be careful. Always close the task before changing the image. Insertion or modification of text must be completed before changing the image, otherwise, it’s guaranteed to crash.
Sequence dimensions:
Try not to exceed 15 to 20 minutes of sequence before creating the corresponding video on the computer, as long sequences overload the memory and make it crash. Especially do this if you notice that your project starts to lag.
You can always, afterward, splice them one after the other into a final project. Once the videos are created, the transfer memory is much less taxed.
Finally, I can only advise you to read everything that is written on the subject in these forums, as I do not possess all knowledge. To find a large part of these discussions, you can search for my messages ("Vaucluse"), where you will find quite a few insightful comments from other users.
To conclude, do not expect wonders with Movie, but for a beginner, it is more than acceptable if you take the patience to handle it as I recommend!

Hello Vaucluse,
You seem to know WMM quite well. I would like to ask for your help please.
I bought a laptop with Vista. I made a video montage using WMM with photos and small videos from my digital camera. I added transitions, music, titles... No problems, I was really happy.
Today, I decided to modify a few things and when I try to open my project, it says: "NOT IMPLEMENTED" !!
It's so frustrating !!
Thank you for replying if you can help me.
Have a good day

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem as you.. When Windows DVD Maker starts encoding, it crashes at 0.7% with no indication..
I tried using Sonic's MyDVD, and it works. It's really a Windows problem!!

Seb,
I also noticed that a temporary file AVi.TMP was created and placed in a project folder. File size: 8 Gigs...
So I'm looking for software that works on Vista, or a tool (preferably free) to convert the Windows Media format that Movie Maker can create into an .avi that would be playable on any DVD player.
Are you happy with MY DVD from Sonic?

Hi, I'm glad to see (unfortunately) that others besides me have encountered issues with Movie Maker. The only difference is that I was able to create a movie without the reported crash. My problem is that after saving the file as WMV, I found that it continued to exist but some audio and video clips had disappeared. In the end, I wasn't very satisfied because, upon viewing, the image quality still leaves something to be desired.
Like you, I then turned to MY DVD from SONIC; personally, without documentation, it's something very complex; it was only through perseverance that I managed last night to create a compilation of two mini-DV tapes from my digital camcorder. I should note that I could only do it in VHS quality because the final file was too large. A few weeks ago, I burned a DVD directly with it, but it should be noted that the encoding time, file creation, and clips are particularly long. I think in the end, I will lean towards something more intuitive and user-friendly like NERO or PINNACLE STUDIO. That's what I think about WMV and SONIC;

Hello everyone,
I am facing the same problem as you with Windows DVD Creation because it's this tool that Movie Maker launches when requesting to burn a project to a DVD.
Following the error message displayed, Vista informs me that there is a solution to this problem. This solution is also supposed to address the issue I am encountering regarding the crash when trying to switch the screensaver to "Photos". Are you experiencing this crash?
The problem is that this solution is not integrated into an automatic Windows update but requires a manual intervention with a certain command called "Regsrv32.exe"! I did my best to follow the technical instructions to arrive at an error code that tells you (via the Microsoft Knowledge Base) that it is a known issue recognized by MS on Vista versions and that they do not have a solution yet!
Has anyone come to the same conclusion as I have?
Good luck!

Same kind of problem but when trying to export the finished edit to the computer: error message and Movie Maker shuts down =(
Then Vista informs me that the issue is also due to something called regsvr32, as well as lmpgd10.ax.
But I have no idea how to resolve the issue.
So very happy to have spent hours on the software only to ultimately not be able to "publish the movie" on the computer... =(

I found this on the web....
I'll try it this weekend. But if someone has already done it, does the solution "Increase the size of the swap file" work?
Thanks
Patrick.

Hello,
I created a photo-video montage with transitions and accompanying music on Windows Movie Maker, and everything was fine until I tried to publish it onto a CD-R. It tells me there's not enough space on the CD to burn even though the film lasts only 14 minutes, which is 2.4 MB on a CD-R with 700 MB capacity. How can I solve this problem? Also, what format should I use to publish it correctly so that it can be played on a standalone DVD player? When I tried with 4 photos, the CD-R couldn't be read in the DVD player.
Thank you for providing solutions.
Best regards

Hello everyone,
I also encountered the same problem as all of you, meaning the crash whenever I wanted to create my DVD. After some research, I found the solution. You need to uninstall the Codec Vista package and replace it with K-Lite Codec Pack 3.4.5 available at the following link:
http://www.codecguide.com/
After that, I was able to create my DVDs without any problems.

Hello everyone.
I created a project with Windows Maker that I decided to publish on DVD.
The editing is sent to the Windows DVD maker program...
After modifying the menu, etc... I started the burning process... and encountered an error message at the beginning of the encoding!
"Unspecified error" Unable to burn the DVD.
I JUST REMOVED THE "FADE IN / FADE OUT" EFFECTS FROM MY PHOTOS IN THE EDITING... I NO LONGER HAVE ANY PROBLEMS!
Test this if you encounter this error message, which is also found when trying to save the video project on the computer.
So it's not necessarily related to the size of the video editing.
My apologies if this suggestion has already been made!
Thank you.

Hello,
same problem for me: this "Unable to complete the film publication".
What is the solution, if anyone has found it?

Hello, I also have a problem with Windows Movie Maker on Vista. My problem is a bit different; when I make my edit, I can play it with the music and everything, I save it, and when I restart the PC, I can't play the video or if I try to burn it, I only get the video without the music that I added. If anyone has a solution, that would be nice!
Hello,
I also had a problem with Windows Movie Maker on Vista: I couldn't publish videos even after installing the codecs.
So, I uninstalled SLD Codecs and DivX Codecs and now I can publish videos without any issues!
Some say this problem can also arise from an incompatibility between Windows Movie Maker and an old version of Nero.
Good luck

I want to uninstall "Windows Movie Maker" from my computer because since I made a video with this program, my computer has been malfunctioning.
Does anyone know how to do it?
Thank you

Me too... I'm a bit disappointed because after spending 1 hour and 30 minutes behind my PC screen for 17 minutes of movie on Movie Maker... the result is useless!! I mean nothing, except that it says "not implemented"... so either I'm an idiot or it's Vista's fault... but personally, I'd prefer to be an idiot...
Hello everyone,
I want to open my project in Windows Movie Maker 6.0 on Vista and I'm getting an error message "not implemented" ...
Hours of work reduced to NOTHING????
I can't believe it...
thank you......

Hello,
It must be coming from the firewall that needs adjustment,
you have to "tell" the firewall to let this application through.
But not all firewalls are the same, so
the settings aren't either!
You can also run your antivirus and check for
possible spywares.
Have a good day,
