Hello, my Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E-series laptop won't start. I press the button, the fan starts, power is on, but the screen stays off and I'm not sure if the hard drive is starting.
Can someone help me?
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

For me, it's resolved, and you might be in the same situation: it's the contact on the BIOS battery. Since it wasn't working before, the BIOS doesn't start, which explains why the lights are on but nothing happens.
So try removing and reinserting the BIOS battery (for me, it's a round and flat battery), or even replacing it.
Hoping this will help you.

Hello,

I don't know anything about PCs!!
Is there a BIOS battery in a laptop?
Where is it located?

Thank you

Hello, following the issue mentioned by "Beaufrais", where is the BIOS battery located, what needs to be disassembled to access it, I have the same problem with a 1526 Amilo. Thank you.

If the screen remains black but various buttons light up, there is a chance it's a backlight issue... I can't see any other solution than going to customer service...

Some have had the "courage" to disassemble it... but well...

The backlighting is what allows the screen to "light up"?

Otherwise, on battery, it makes three loud beeps at startup and then nothing.

Slut, I think I have the same problem with the Amilo Li 1705-B202, which is that the machine starts up normally the first time and runs for about an hour before shutting down by itself, even though the machine is still on. When I turn it off and then restart it, the machine powers on but there’s no sign of loading the operating system. The machine will only restart after leaving it off for at least 3 hours. It should be noted that the OS in question is XP, but the machine was originally delivered with Vista, which I uninstalled. It’s since this uninstallation operation that the machine has been experiencing issues. For any solution, don’t hesitate; it will be welcome!

Hello,

I am a repair technician, your problem, Achille, is clearly overheating.
If when it turns off, and you restart it right away, it doesn't work, whereas if you leave it alone for a long time, it turns back on, it's because you've given it time to cool down.

A quick vacuum on the openings (it's better than nothing)
Otherwise, open it up and clean the copper grille (orange) with a vacuum.

Another thing, it seems that a beep ("not very short") is caused by a fan failure, at least for the pi 1556.

It's impossible to remove the fan without completely disassembling it. This brand is truly to be avoided.

Good luck to everyone!

Hello,

Same issue as some (Fujiitsu Siemens Amelio Pi 3540) meaning no display but power is reaching the machine, external video is not working, hard drive is fine on another machine.
Actually, you just need to change the battery, so disassemble the black part underneath the computer, remove the black plastic cover of the battery, take out the battery and replace it, reassemble the cover and it's time for new adventures.

It's not the hard drive: I installed it on another identical machine and it works. It looks like it's the screen. I will try to connect it to an external monitor, good idea thanks. I can only do it tomorrow.
Thank you.

I also have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop whose screen remains black after powering on. The technician showed me that the desktop is displayed in "transparency." He connected an external monitor and there, the desktop is perfectly visible. Moreover, the computer works completely normally (running programs, reading emails, etc.). His abilities do not allow him to see inside the screen even though he just fixed the broken power socket inside the "case."
My device could work with the addition of an "external" screen, but it would no longer be portable.
I went to see a repairman who, without hesitation, diagnosed the need to replace a card <> but not the motherboard. I should have an answer tomorrow regarding the price and whether the device is worth repairing given its age (4 years).
Have you had a similar problem; how did you resolve it? Thank you

Thank you for your response

Hi, well I see I'm not the only one in this situation...
Guéno, what you’re saying interests me because I think I have the same problem: my computer (an Amilo Pa 1510) works fine in terms of power (the LED lights up), when I press the power button the corresponding LED also lights up but nothing happens. Black screen.
After connecting to an external monitor without success, I thought the problem could be:
- The BIOS
- The hard drive (but there is a small noise when I turn it on or off, so it seems to be working, unless it's the sound of a fan?)
Overall: it seems to be the BIOS. How did you remove the BIOS battery and put it back, Guéno: what does it look like, where is it located, how do you remove it?
Still, I have a doubt. At first, when I had this problem, my PC would work after a number of attempts and battery manipulations. For example: I would remove the battery, try with only the power supply, then put it back... But there came a time when this became useless.
In your opinion, does the problem really come from the BIOS battery?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
François, who regrets not having spent a few more euros on a more reliable computer...

I did exactly the same: I take the battery out or I restart the computer thirty times and after a certain number of times it works. But after a while, it doesn't work anymore. I went to see a repairman, he charged me forty euros just to tell me: I need to change the computer, I couldn't do anything!!!! Well, thanks then, if anyone has a solution, it's welcome =) !

Good evening,

I had the same problem with my Amilo Pi 3540 laptop.
I removed the BIOS battery and started my laptop without the battery.
As a result, it restarts fine despite the lost BIOS settings (that’s normal).
I put it back inside and restarted the laptop after saving the BIOS, and everything is working again.
Don’t ask me how or why, but it’s working.

I will turn it off for tonight and try restarting it again to see if it works once more.

In the best-case scenario, I will buy a new battery to see.

See you soon

For screen issues, you just need to change the RAM. It's silly, but it works.

Connect it to an external screen and then turn it on to see if the issue comes from the screen or not.

I have the same problem; I don't think it's the screen, but rather what's INSIDE the computer... the programs, etc....

I disassembled the screen frame and looked at the inverter. No signs of overheating. Removed and reinstalled the hard drive, took a look at the RAM sticks, nothing to report.

Well, I'm on your side, but we're in a bind!

It's either the motherboard or the graphics card, because no, I wasn't able to fix the problem.

However, you should check this out:

because we are by far not the only ones having an issue with this computer ;)

Hello!
So, I'm relieved to see all these comments. So, let me tell you how my laptop ended up not displaying anything while it "works". I was playing a game that requires a lot of graphics, and one day, the screen goes into sleep mode. I turn it off and restart it, and it works again. But this problem occurs 3 times in a row. So, I decide not to play anymore and to evaluate the computer. Fortunately, I can see that the graphics score is low (3). I close the window and suddenly the problem happens again, even though I’m not in the game this time. I turn it off, restart it, and since then it’s been in sleep mode. I decide to plug in an external monitor, and there I see what’s happening. I boot into safe mode, disable the graphics card, restart the computer, reactivate the graphics card, and since then, no more issues. But it’s not all that great. Two days later, the same problem occurs. Thankfully, I made a backup of my data and it's still under warranty (the laptop is 1 year and 4 months old). I'm going to contact customer service. But as someone mentioned earlier, it’s a budget laptop, so it’s not cheap and not very sophisticated… If the problem happens again, I’ll let you know, and then goodbye mobility, I'll save up for a custom desktop computer!! SNIF.

Hello
I am doing an internship at a computer repair company and I ran into a problem with a PC, and it turned out to be the RAM stick that was faulty. So for those who have issues, I'm providing this information just to let you know that it’s a possibility.

Hi,
I want to confirm that a repairman came and he removed and reinserted the RAM sticks; that temporarily solved the problem. Apparently, sometimes it's also power issues, and you just need to try booting without the battery, or with the battery without the power supply... basically messing around.

Well, here are some recurring breakdowns!!!! I have the same one as all of you (me too, trying to install another operating system, Windows LSD 3.7) but I think it must be a coincidence!!! I called customer service, their response: remove the battery, unplug the power supply, hold your finger on the power button for 40 seconds, then plug it back in and it works....... Well, no, it doesn't work!!! So, second solution? Yes!!! Send us the PC at your expense (out of warranty) and we’ll give you a quote within 5 days. If you agree, it'll take 3 weeks; if you don't, we'll send it back to you with a €47 charge......

So, I'm thrilled!!!!!

I also think about overheating, hard drive, or motherboard!!!

It shut down about ten times before getting stuck like this!!!

Hello, I have a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E4010, I formatted it and installed Windows XP with Service Pack 1. After the installation finished, I lost the Wi-Fi. When I open the network favorites, there is no link on the left bar that allows me to configure the wireless network, and I don't have the wireless network icon, not even in the start menu is there the icon that allows me to search for wireless networks. In fact, there is no link that talks about Wi-Fi, whereas before, the Wi-Fi was working fine. Some people told me about the driver; personally, I don't have the driver for my PC and I can't find the right one on the internet.
So I would like you to tell me if it is a driver problem, and if possible, a link to download it.

Hello
I also have roughly the same problem. When I turn on my AMILO, the screen stays black and the light indicating that the hard drive is working is not on. When I went to see a repairman, he told me that it was probably related to the motherboard.
Thank you for responding as soon as possible if you have a solution.

Hello,

I also have this type of faulty backlight issue on an AMILO La1703 (Fujitsu Siemens) that's less than a year old. Sometimes everything works normally, while other times, after a while, the backlight flickers and then turns back on or off! It's necessary to restart in hopes of seeing something again. When the screen has turned off, it is indeed possible to see by "transparency" that the computer is still running. Because of this, it is possible to properly close any ongoing programs. To see better what we are doing in the dark, you need to illuminate the screen with a grazing light (desk lamp, flashlight)!!

The device will likely have to go to customer service for warranty repair. Duration ????

Configuration: Windows XP

Hello, I also have the same problem with my Amilo La 1703 computer which is only 6 months old. I called Fujitsu Siemens, and they admitted to having the same issues with all Amilo La 1703s. Right now, I'm fighting between the retailer Rue du Commerce and Fujitsu Siemens. After getting angry, I finally managed to get a store credit to change this computer. Four breakdowns in 6 months is a lot. I'm going to buy another computer, but not a Fujitsu Siemens!!!!!!!!!

For this problem, (I have the same computer and have had every possible issue including this one) it is either a bad connection or too much dust.
Don't be afraid to disassemble it.
It's just a matter of removing a few small screws in the right order.
For the screen, the plate at the level of the power button of the computer can be removed and you can see to the left the connection cable with the screen, try to reconnect it properly.
Otherwise, after a while, you will realize that your computer turns off on its own and you have to wait 15 minutes or more before you can turn your computer back on without any issue.
This is related to a problem with the fan connection.
For my part, I removed the cover underneath the computer and as soon as my PC starts to heat up, I turn on the fan with my finger....
Well, I used to do that... because since this morning, when I turn on my Amilo La 1703, the Fujitsu logo appears, the progress bar of the startup starts moving... and stops two-thirds of the way. After a minute, the computer turns off and restarts and does the same thing again.
I tried removing the battery... nothing.
I tried to enter the BIOS setup... "please wait" ... then it restarts. The problem is still present.
I pressed "Escape" ... I got the info about my PC, I pressed F2 ... again, it restarts and the problem remains unchanged.

I am out of ideas.

Well, I want to point out that I managed (not without difficulty) to keep my Amilo La 1703 running for almost 7 years.... I think I'm just going to buy another one.

Good luck to you (and if anyone has a suggestion for my problem, I'm always open to it, thank you)

Hello,

Hi everybody,
Know that this fujitsu-siemens PC has a nasty habit of this malfunction.
It's the CPU that is dead or the motherboard........
Unfortunately, it's a loss leader, cheap and unreliable.....
Good luck.....

Hello everyone,
I would like to explain my problem. I bought a Fujitsu Siemens home PC about 3 years ago, and recently, it won't start up anymore. It shows a black screen saying "restart Windows normally" or "safe mode" and all that. I have tried all the modes, and it keeps restarting endlessly, not getting past the boot screen.
Do you think it could be the motherboard?
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
I had the same problem with my AMILO Pi1556 laptop (black screen while the PC seemed to be working fine with a BEEP at startup). Without understanding why, one day the screen started working again. Thinking it was due to a virus or malware, I immediately reinstalled the operating system (Windows XP) using the CD provided with the PC. Then there was no problem. But here we are two months later with the same issue (ugh, I’m fed up). Since it was no longer under warranty, I decided to check with customer service (no information since I'm no longer under warranty, but after explaining that it had happened to me before and that it had miraculously started working again (and that I would never pay for this repair), the support quickly told me to check the screen connection to the PC (it’s true that after folding and unfolding the screen, the connection can come loose). I took apart my laptop, checked the connection, it seemed to be well connected, but I still touched the connection just to be sure. I also took the opportunity to remove the BIOS battery, put it back, and vacuum the fan. I put everything back together, and now it works great (at least for how long). I'm a novice in this area, but it worked. I can’t say if it was due to checking the connection, the battery, or the vacuuming (laughs), but the result is that it works. The next time this happens, I will do the same just to be sure.
I hope this helps you.

Hello,

I was surfing the net and suddenly the screen froze.
I turned off the laptop and turned it back on, the fan is running as if the laptop is hot even though I left it to cool down. The power, WIFI, ... lights are on. I went to see a repairman and he told me it must certainly be a problem with the motherboard.
I tried connecting an external monitor, but nothing happened!!

Can you help me with this??

Thank you

PS: the laptop is 1 year and 2 months old, the warranty has expired!! arrrghh

Super... I'm not the only one then Amilo Pa1538.

Like every evening, I turn on my PC and strangely it starts up but the screen stays black (it was working last night..).
I plugged in another screen behind but it doesn't do anything either (does it boot automatically to that?).
The warranty has expired, I'm going to open it but if another screen doesn't work that scares me; where could it be coming from?
I don't really know who creates the power to turn on the screen.. if someone knows a bit about this it would be great!

Thanks in advance :)

Hello,
I also have a broken Amilo PA 1538 with a faulty motherboard.
The warranty has expired and FJC doesn’t want to know anything about it and claims not to be aware that so many people are having trouble with this device.
Would you join us by sending the serial number starting with Y... so that we can escalate the information to FJC?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

Hello,
For me, it's the same thing: black screen on startup. The fan starts running and the hard drive too (I think). My laptop is an Amilo PA 1538, serial number: YSMB078683.
Of course, the laptop was purchased in July 2007, so it is no longer under warranty.
The display driver was acting up from time to time. I don’t know if that's related.

Hi Michèle,
I have the same problem as you on an Amilo 1538 laptop, purchased a year and a half ago at Surcouf in Paris. This problem bothers me a lot, which leads me to this forum when I don’t have much free time. I would like to join your message. For my part, I would never buy another FS, and I want to warn everyone who intends to buy a Fujitsu Siemens. It’s an unreliable decision. It may cost a little less, but when it breaks down, it will cost us a lot of money and time.

Good evening,

I'm having exactly the same mishap as Guéno (same PC, one beep at startup), except that nothing launches behind it!!

After the beep, I have icons (keyboard caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock flashing) but nothing launches behind, and then it goes into sort of standby, it's plugged in but nothing happens.

I have to hold down the power button much longer to turn it off.

For your information, I was clearing the PC to be able to install Linux and restore the Windows I was using.
So I was acting on the software side and, as luck would have it, the hardware crashes behind it. From what I know, I’m not to blame in this case, but you never know.

Otherwise, I opened it yesterday to remove the dust (a lot of dust), I'll wait until tomorrow, retest, reopen, check if I didn't touch anything, vacuum it again, then restart, and if it doesn't work, I'll try the BIOS battery trick.

I really hope to have a bit of luck -_-'

So I need help -_-
