Question

Here it is, I have a big problem. I'm using my PC like every day, everything was fine, no viruses, but then I shut it down and when I tried to turn it back on, nothing happened: no screen, no fan, nothing...

Apparently it's not the power supply because I tried another one and my mouse, which is always on, is still powered.

I really have no idea what's wrong, so if anyone can help that would be very nice
especially since I need the PC for school, thanks in advance.

First, you need to disconnect the power supply and the battery, then press the power button for about 20 seconds, reconnect the power supply, and try to turn it on normally.

If that doesn't work, you need to locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard (which looks like a larger watch battery, see below: https://www.commentcamarche.net/contents/37-assembler-un-pc) and remove it. Be gentle though, it's preferable.

After waiting one or two minutes, you should put it back in and you're good to go. It already worked in my case, it doesn't cost anything, and it's risk-free (in principle). However, if that has no effect, good luck with buying a new PC…

Hello,

in the case of a bug like this and according to your explanations, the best thing to do is to reset the CMOS,
generally, this is done by shorting using a jumper or by connecting two small solder points near the lithium battery on the motherboard,
if you have the documentation for your motherboard, it should be written there,

at worst, unplug the power from the 220V, remove the lithium battery from the motherboard, and short the positive and negative of the battery socket to reset the CMOS,

then replace the battery, reconnect the power, and turn on the PC.

Hello everyone, I had a similar problem today: the fans don’t spin, no noise, nothing except a blue light on the front, and the CPU light being off.
I did the basic troubleshooting; removed everything and left only the power supply, one stick of RAM, etc., but still nothing.

Knowing more or less that the problem was coming from the CPU, I went to get thermal paste, removed the heatsink on my CPU, applied the paste where needed. I did the basic tests again (just power supply, RAM stick, etc.)
, and a few nice beeps were the response from my motherboard (I hadn't plugged in my HDD), and a big smile from me, lol.

So there you go, I hope this helps some people. I hadn’t thought about the thermal paste at all at first, but in the end, it saved me from having to buy another CPU.
