powering on a motherboard without a CPU Solved

Question

Hello,
I have an ASUS P9X79 DELUXE motherboard and I would like to see if it works
I doubt that my processor is dead so I removed it to test the motherboard alone but it doesn't turn on, and even with the CPU it doesn't turn on either

but first of all, is it possible to power on a P9X79 motherboard without a CPU??
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 16.0

Hello,
no, it's impossible (regardless of the motherboard). The CPU is the central unit, so if you remove it, it won't work. It's the same for the RAM sticks (volatile memory). You need at least one for any display to work.

Oh really, thanks, because I have nothing happening when I press to turn on the PC, the processor cooling is working, the problem is probably there, it was very hot... but is it mandatory that it’s the processor that is dead or could the motherboard have also been affected?

You can always try reapplying thermal paste and carefully reattaching it. If there's no thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink (the block attached to the fan), the heat won't be dissipated properly, causing the CPU to go into safety mode and shut down the computer.
The motherboard may have been affected as well, but that's not certain.

For the dough, everything is fine; it's the cooling that has stopped

I don't have the option to test the processor or the motherboard with other components; I wanted to do some tests and at least rule out the faulty motherboard so that I know what to send back to customer service

I went to the computer stores near me, but they don't have "such recent" equipment, they say.
