Hello everyone!
After finding my answer for adding RAM to my PC, I would now like to upgrade the processor.
As far as I understand, the socket needs to be compatible. My processor is an I5 6600K
Socket 1151 LGA.
If I'm not mistaken, I can upgrade to an I7-9700KF

Below is a screenshot of my processor
Am I on the right track? Do I need to change the motherboard?
What do you think of my final PC configuration which would be as follows:
- I7-9700KF 8 cores
- 32GB of RAM
- Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
In order to do video editing smoothly?
Thank you and have a great day!
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 89.0

Once upon a time, things were simpler. It was enough to have the same socket and, sometimes with a BIOS update, for a CPU to work on a motherboard. But Intel complicated things with its socket 1151. Motherboards for 6th and 7th generation Core i processors are not compatible with 8th and 9th generation Core i processors and vice versa, even though they have the same socket 1151. Therefore, the I7-9700KF (9th generation) will not be compatible with your motherboard designed for the 6th generation.
