Hello,

If you cancel with Orange, your mailbox will disappear after a few weeks (or even a few months in rare cases). An @orange (or @wanadoo) address is reserved for Orange customers, so if you leave this ISP, it makes sense that they delete your address.

However, there is a solution which consists of contacting customer service (3900 option 2) to switch your account to free access. For more details, you need to check directly with them, I don't have more information to provide you.

I'm sorry to have to contradict you, but that's not the case...

Right now, I'm in a real mess because of this.

On one hand, access to the email address we have is deleted on the very day of cancellation.
On the other hand, it is not possible to have free access even if you request it, no matter what the customer service says.

In fact, before starting the cancellation process, I made sure with ORANGE customer service that I could continue to use my email address with free access. Two different people told me that as long as it’s written in the cancellation letter, there would be no problem. Which I did...

On the morning of the scheduled cancellation: no more access to my email address. Worried, I called customer service, who said there was a technical issue with my messaging, as I had requested free access to my email address, there would be no problem, it would be done.
In the afternoon, still nothing. I spent 3 hours on the phone being bounced from one service to another, having to constantly call another number because "there's no problem giving you free access, but I can't do it, please call: ...".
As a side note, I encountered an ORANGE advisor who was barely polite, who essentially told me to shove it, clearly stating that it is not possible to keep access to your email address and that I should have thought about it beforehand. Once you cancel, the address disappears. And all the ORANGE advisors who told me it was possible are "incompetent" (those were her words). Out of the total number of people I spoke with, which is well over twenty people, are they all incompetent and just making things up to their clients???!!!!! ROYAL!

Today, I come to the conclusion. I can say goodbye to my email address and hello to the mess it puts me in at work.

My anger towards ORANGE is immeasurable. As long as you are a customer, the tone is sweet and everything is possible, they won't hesitate to lie to you. The day you leave them, they are barely civil.
