My computer connects via cable but not via Wi-Fi. Solved

Question

Hello,  My laptop has been connected via Ethernet cable since I acquired it. But I want to change and switch to Wi-Fi. The problem is that when I connect to my Wi-Fi network, it doesn't work. It remains on identifying and below it says "no internet access." Could you please help me? Thank you in advance.   Configuration: Samsung RV515 Laptop, Windows 7, Google Chrome

Hi, first you need to check if your Wi-Fi card is set to "Obtain IPv4 address automatically," then go to your router and press the sync button so that the router can accept your laptop... Of course, this also means that you should have configured the Wi-Fi on your router before this step. ;)

Actually, I have a Wi-Fi access point in my room, as the Wi-Fi from the box is disabled because my parents are afraid of Wi-Fi. I have no problem connecting on my iPod. How do we check if my card is set to Obtain IPv4?  Thank you for your answer :)

Good evening, For most Internet Service Providers, you need to unlock a port, which means pressing the button where it says "REG" to be able to register on the router. So you must press this button and then connect to the Wi-Fi network from your computer.   Hoping that's it...

Hi, have you tried unplugging your Ethernet cable? Because on some laptops, the Wi-Fi connection gets disabled when you plug in a cable.

So, is the wifi enabled on your router? Is it properly configured on your phone? Have you used it before or is it the first time?

Right-click on the small network icon next to the clock, then open the Network and Sharing Center and then modify the adapter settings...  Then disable your Ethernet network adapter and enable your Wi-Fi adapter.

Ok, I got it, sorry, actually you want to access the free wifi and not the wifi from your box if I understood correctly. If your iPod can connect, that means there's not much to do, it works anyway. So, unplug your Ethernet cable, make sure your wifi is active on your phone, look for the free wifi network in the wifi list, then open the browser, it should ask you for your password.

It's okay. Yes, well it's not called free because I'm the one who chooses the name but that's exactly it. I unplugged my ethernet cable, I looked for my wifi name, I clicked it, they asked me for my password and now it's stuck on identification and below it says no internet access.

ok, in identification instead of your usual id, have you tried putting the MAC address of your D-Link? It's usually marked on a label.

Alright, so it's not access like a hotspot, it's access with a WPA/WPA2 key I suppose since WEP is almost non-existent now, so make sure your PC is looking for a WPA key and not WEP in the advanced settings of your wireless connection (or the other way around if it's actually a WEP key).

Good evening everyone,  It's done, I don't know if it's a miracle but I just "rebooted" my box earlier. And now my computer and my iPod are working. However, my PS3 still doesn't work... Hello,  Well, everything is working in the end. My PS3 via cable, my computer and my iPod on Wi-Fi. I just needed to plug a cable from the LAN port 1 of the access point to the switch, and a second cable from the LAN port 2 of the access point to my PS3!  If you have any comments... Thank you so much for your help!! :)
