Wifi working but no connection via ethernet Solved

Hello,

After reading the discussions on this topic, I still haven't found a solution to my problem.

I have had a connection via a Bouygues Bbox for a few days now, and the internet works via Wi-Fi, but it’s impossible to connect via my Ethernet cable. The problem had already appeared with a Freebox, and yet I remember having successfully connected a long time ago (with a Livebox).

I am using a NEC Versa One laptop, my network card is an Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection, the driver version is 9.7.34.0, dated 01/02/2007, and when I try to update it, it tells me "impossible... The assistant cannot find better software for your device than the one currently installed."
Moreover, another network card 1394 appears. I don’t know which one serves what exactly. The drivers for that one date back to 2001, but still no update is possible.

If anyone can help me or has any ideas, please don’t hesitate!!

Hello, do you already have something connected to your box via Ethernet?
There are two Ethernet ports on the Livebox, and by default, one of them is assigned to the ADSL TV service. You need to start by disabling this service to use the second port for a PC.

Well, the 1394 network card is your FireWire port (you can use TCP/IP with it, that's why..). By the way, have you checked the TCP/IP properties of your network card (named "Local Area Connection")? Right-click on it and go to properties, then in the "General" tab, double-click on "TCP/IP protocol" -- in this dialog box, make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are checked.

Hello Apatik, I don't have access to the TV service which is therefore deactivated by default, and my Ethernet cable is properly plugged in where it should be (by the way, I have version v3 of the box, and there are 4 Ethernet ports on it, at least 2 for the internet).

While checking this, I just noticed something silly but maybe related: my "Ethernet" light is flashing green. According to the manual, "traffic is ongoing on the Ethernet connection."

So maybe it's coming from Bouygues ?? All I have left is to spend hours with customer support ... :(

At the same time, I had already encountered this problem not too long ago with a Freebox, where the Ethernet connection worked on another PC... What do you think?

I think I read "Livebox" instead of "Bbox", => I'm such a clutz =)

When you try using Ethernet, where does your cable come from (a friend, Bouygues, ...)? Is it a straight cable? (When you line up both ends side by side in the same position, the color order should be identical.) Have you tried changing the port on the box?

What does your PC display? "Limited or no connection"?

My cable came from Bouygues, my PC showed that I was connected normally. But apparently, it wasn't that, since my Ethernet connection works perfectly well since I checked what dabigben was talking about... (I feel a bit ridiculous for not noticing that before ^^). Despite the yellow blinking light, by the way...
