My Ethernet connection with Freebox is not working anymore.

Hello,

My connection to the new Freebox was working very well via Ethernet for a month (I plug and unplug it according to my Internet usage in the apartment with my laptop)
But since yesterday it no longer works in Ethernet mode (still very well in wifi mode on my personal network and on FreeWifi). The little high-speed connection icon at the top of the list of possible connections has changed. In the control panel, I only see the name of my personal wifi network.
The Freebox is one month old, my Dell laptop is less than 6 months old, I went to check the Free support and read some answers on this site... I don't see anything that could help me and I don't understand much.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Configuration: Windows 8 / Internet Explorer 10.0

AYé! It's resolved (following a call to Freebox technical support at 3244). I share here the steps to easily solve this problem (don't be intimidated by the length, it's actually very simple).

I'M ON WINDOWS 8

Prerequisite: Disable the Wi-Fi connections (Freebox personal + mention FreeWifi) in the connection menu.

1) Test the Ethernet cable to ensure it works:
* Change the port on the Freebox (there are 4 options available),
* Change the cable (I found another identical cable in the box, possibly dedicated to the TV connection - TV that I don't have)
* Connect the Ethernet cable to another computer (disable the Wi-Fi connections and open a web page other than the usual homepage)

In my case, the Ethernet cable worked properly on another laptop than mine.

2) UNINSTALL AND RESTORE THE ETHERNET NETWORK CARD (REALTEK in my case).

Prerequisite: Find the name of the network card listed under the Ethernet connection:

Shortcut search on KEYBOARD (or go look in the control panel/Connections...)
* Press WINDOWS + R keys simultaneously: Run box appears.
* Type: ncpa.cpl then click OK

DISPLAY OF CONNECTIONS (3 double screen icons on my end):
* Broadband connection (checked in green) + mention "disconnected, shared" + WAN Miniport...
* ETHERNET (In my case, there was a small red cross) + mention "Ethernet: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller"
* Wifi Dell Wireless etc. "Not connected"

2) UNINSTALL AND RESTORE: this is the solution that solved everything for me.

KEYBOARD:
* Press WINDOWS + X keys: a menu appears
* CHOOSE "Device Manager"
* CHOOSE "Network adapters":
(in my case, there were 3):
1/ Microsoft: right-click, choose uninstall, no need to restart the computer
2/ Wireless Dell: left untouched
3/ Realtek: right-click, uninstall (doesn't require a restart)

Then in the top bar of the screen:
* click on ACTION,
* click on SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES: the REALTEK card reappears in the Network Adapters list.

END

The Ethernet connection is restored:
The Ethernet connection icon has reappeared in the internet connections menu, we can again open a web page via the Ethernet cable.

Note: it seems that this problem is common. "It happens."

In fact, the easiest thing to do is to update the driver.
