Could the issue be due to Windows updates?

Hello everyone,
This past week, a flurry of Windows updates. Loaded, automatic configuration, etc. Everyone knows...
Is it a coincidence? The next day, I want to open an Office document (2007) by double-clicking, as usual.
It's new: suddenly a "Windows Installer" window appears, then "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007," and finally "The component you are trying to use is located on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Please insert the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 disk and click OK."
And below "Use source:..." followed by a field that only offers "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" but next to it the "Browse" button that allows you to see what it's looking for, the clever thing: the file "ProPlusWW.msi"... But here's the thing, when I ask it to search in C:, it finds nothing and throws me the error 1706.
Not having the Office CD, since it was installed OEM by the company that provided the computer, I try Microsoft support. They kindly send me to the company in question... which is in Paris!
By chance, I try to launch Word directly. It launches! And there, when I ask it to open a doc, no problem... except that it's annoying, double-click being quite handy.
The same issue occurs with Excel and PowerPoint.
A friend told me yesterday he had the same problem after the Windows updates...

Have you had these issues like me and my buddy?
Does anyone have a solution?
I’m all ears...
Have a great weekend.

The problem does not come from the updates but rather from the version of MS Office, which is probably not official.

    Thank you, crocodile 15.
In fact, shortly after I sent my question to the forum and read your response (very quick!), I thought of something else.
My version of Office is authentic, as Ugolin would say, but a bug may have occurred with the Microsoft update nonetheless.
I opened Word, and in the left pane, Word Options/Resources, I enabled "Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics"... And bingo, it found a repair to do without me needing to insert any CD!
Result: double-click is working again, same for Excel, same for PowerPoint!
    It's bliss.
I hope this helps those who were also affected...
    See you later!
