[GMAIL] unable to import contacts

Hello,

I'm trying to import a contact list into my Gmail account. This list is in CSV format, as Gmail requires, and the .csv file was created with MS Excel 2002.

The first line, as specified in Gmail's help, contains the column names.

This CSV file uses semicolons as table separators in Excel. Since that wasn't working, I tried replacing the semicolons with commas using the "replace" tool (CTRL+H) in Notepad... and that doesn't work either.

If you have ever had this problem, how did you solve it?

Even though Gmail boasts in its tutorial about accepting all languages, it seems to understand English better than the others...
I encountered the same problem, and by replacing the field names in French with English in the csv file, it worked.

Yes, even today (August 2010) French is not well taken into account by Gmail. Using "Last name" for your "nom" column, "first name" for "prénom", "email" and "phone" will work.

Thank you very much, friends.
I struggled a lot trying to put my header in French. After trying a bit in every way, I finally found that the header "Email Address" works.

My final header is
"First name","Last name","Email Address"

And on this day, have a great New Year's Eve everyone,

and a happy upcoming New Year 2011!

Thank you for your advice. In 2015, Google still has trouble with French. I used your final header and it works perfectly.

Thank you. I had the same problem and it was resolved thanks to your help; I just had to enter the headers in English.

I am unable to import or export contacts from the beloved email ending with gmail.con to an email ending with the name of my company.com.

Do you have a solution?
