Hello,
Yesterday, I watched a program online using my headphones.
Since then, I have no sound coming from the speakers; I can only hear through the headphones.
When I hover over the sound icon at the bottom right, it says "speakers/headphones: 22%" whereas I believe it wasn't like that before. I wonder if this is related, if there is some sort of mix-up that is disrupting the functioning of the speakers?
I opened the "sound" tab under "playback," and there are only two icons:
- speakers/headphones, which is selected and is the default device,
- headphones (real-time), which shows a white phone in a green square and is also the default communication device...
I tried restoring but it doesn't change the problem. I attempted the audio troubleshooting (playing an audio file), but it does not detect any issues. On the "speakers/headphones" line, it says "speaker/headphone... the connector for this device is located at the front of the computer, the same for the headphones (real-time).
I don’t know what else to try; I know almost nothing about computers...
If someone can help me, that would be nice.
Thank you.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 15.0.1

Wow, I can't believe it!!! I found it, all by myself, like a big girl, after searching everywhere!!! Yayyyyy, it works.
Actually, the problem was with the properties of the internal mic, at this spot:
https://www.cjoint.com/?BIxj6oOqToh
I clicked randomly and suddenly, I heard the music. ContentContent
So, my problem is solved. I hope that people who have the same problem as me will find the solution here one day.
Thanks again for taking the time to try to help me, even though it didn't work! ;-)

In fact, it's "almost" a solution because I've just realized that when I turn off my computer, upon restarting, it's silence again. I have to go back into the recording/playback devices menu, click/uncheck/recheck a bit randomly only to end up not changing anything, and suddenly the sound comes back.
In short, it's therefore a somewhat random fix that ultimately isn't really one. But it allows me to have sound when I make the effort to want it...

Verification done. No anomaly detected. The sound problem persists; I can only hear through the speakers by constantly clicking on the volume slider for the headphones.
Is it possible that the PC thinks there is a headset plugged in (which is not the case), and therefore it doesn't detect a fault when it performs an analysis?
How can I tell if it's not the jack socket that has an issue?

This manipulation ultimately doesn't work.
To date, I still have sound issues; while it's true that for several weeks, no sound ever came from my speakers, for the past few days, without me touching anything, there are times when there is sound. Then, for no reason, the sound stops for an indeterminate amount of time...

I have the same problem as you, the sound works when I plug in the headphones, but it doesn't work anymore when I take them out, I've tried everything, I even tried that fix but it still doesn't work well, I don't know if the problem is with the speakers or if it's related to the sound card.. I would like to find a solution because sometimes I don't feel comfortable wearing headphones, it's annoying.
Yes, it’s definitely frustrating in the long run. The worst part for me is that for a few days, I had sound now and then; it left as mysteriously as it had come. This confuses me because if it was a speaker problem, it wouldn’t have worked at all. Now, for several days, there’s been no sound coming out at all... What a hassle...
I don't think so, I removed and reinserted the headset several times to check, and the headset works fine. I think the problem is elsewhere; this "speakers/headset" display seems strange to me. I can't remember what it said before (when hovering over the sound icon at the bottom). What do you see written?

Hello
just for info, restoration on the eve of the breakdown so no more problems

As I wrote, I tried restoring to before the problem, without success... It's frustrating..., I can't understand why, as soon as I remove the headphones, I don't have any sound coming from the speakers, while before, as soon as I removed the headphones, the speakers would automatically take over.
It's annoying...

I don't find it like you do, or rather I don't know how to find it like you do...

Well, I finally managed to manually update the driver after a lot of searching. But it still doesn't work; there's no sound coming out.

I don't understand anything anymore...
My godson discovered that by clicking on the sound slider, you could hear the sound from the speakers:
https://www.cjoint.com/?BIvsoYrRMvP
The catch is that 1-2 seconds later, it goes back to silent mode. In fact, to hear the sound all the time, you would have to keep clicking all the time too...
He tells me that the headphone jack would need to be disabled (he hasn't found out how to do that), but it bothers me to disable functions when there might actually be a real solution to the problem.
If anyone has ever experienced this issue and found the solution, I'm all ears...

I just saw that on other sites, quite a few people have the same issue
most say that the motherboard no longer recognizes the speaker output of the PC.. others say that the motherboard is dead...
for me, the simplest thing is to buy you a pair of amplified speakers like Hercules with headphone connections on them
otherwise, you risk damaging the PC and deleting programs for nothing
it's up to you to decide

Restart the PC between uninstalling and reinstalling the IDT driver.
