I completely agree with polux125. When you are working on the sector, you should not remove the laptop battery. First, this is risky because in the event of a power outage, you will lose any unsaved work, and you might damage the hard drive. Moreover, it will not improve the lifespan of your battery since the new Li-Ion batteries do not have a "memory effect" (unlike the old batteries). So, if the battery is not charged to 100%, it needs to be charged eventually, so you might as well do it right away, and once it is charged to 100%, the laptop's electronics stop the battery charging (to avoid the risk of explosion) and operate on mains power. The battery is therefore no longer in use, and its lifespan is preserved. Finally, this could slow down your computer's performance: MacBooks and MacBook Pros, for example, are designed to automatically switch to low power mode when operating without a battery, which slows them down.

Additionally, if you do not use your battery for several months, it is recommended to store the battery charged to about 40 to 50% of its total capacity. Furthermore, it should be regularly maintained by performing a complete discharge/charge cycle (at least once every 6 months, or once a month if you can). A battery stored for more than 6 months without care deteriorates significantly. Also, ensure to store the battery in a dry and cool place (ideally, the storage temperature should not exceed +25°C, with a maximum of around +40°C).

You can and should perform short charges on your batteries! YES!!!! This stimulates the electrons in the battery.

A Lithium-Ion battery has a lifespan of 300 to 1,000 full charges at 100%, depending on the type and the source. This means that if you recharge your device when the battery is only down to 20%, you will only have made 5 charges before completing a full 100% charge. Therefore, depending on the remaining energy in the battery when you put it on charge, you can plug your device in to recharge it well over 300 or 1,000 times.

The trick to help extend the life of the battery? At least once a month, do a complete and slow recharge (this means charging the battery fully without using the device). Let the device drop to 20% charge and recharge it completely without using it!

If you have a laptop, there's no risk of overcharging. You can leave it plugged in without worry while using it. However, it is not advisable to always use your laptop plugged in. You should at least allow the battery to drain to 20% and recharge it slowly and completely once a month. If you don’t use the battery for a long time, you can remove it from the laptop (depending on the model). You must then follow the storage recommendations.

Some mobile phone cases do not allow them to breathe and cause the phone to overheat. Check if your phone case is heating up your device and change it if it is!

Do not leave your laptop on the desk, as it will heat up; raise it with a base. Also, the worst thing you can do with a laptop is to put it on a cushion or a pillow... It will heat up and you will decrease the battery's lifespan!

A battery is fragile! This is one reason why the battery of your cellphone does not last as long as you would like. Each time your cellphone falls to the ground, you potentially damage the inside of the battery! It’s as if each time it falls, you reduce its capacity. Given how many times my phone hits the ground, I understand why I need to replace it quicker than I’d like!

A Lithium-Ion battery has a lifespan of 3 to 5 years depending on the manufacturer. If you have the chance to see the manufacturing year on the battery before buying a device... do it! It might give you a few more months of good service.

And what about cellphone batteries?
The same principles apply to a cellphone battery.

For iPhones, Apple recommends performing at least one complete charge cycle per month, which means charging the battery to 100% and allowing it to discharge completely in order to move the electrons it contains.
