Hello,
Having recently purchased a small studio and after ordering my awesome Freebox, I realized when I connected it to the phone jack that the previous owner forgot to inform me that the wires were torn...
I looked online to find out which ones to connect.
The gray and white wires need to be connected to ports 1 and 3.
The problem is that I don't have any gray or white wires..
I have a list like this:
brown
brown-white
green
green-white
orange
orange-white
blue
blue-white
Could someone please tell me which 2 wires to connect then? :)
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
try blue+white/blue, on 1 and 3
otherwise, check the arrival of the lines at the electrical panel, if you can, or in another outlet, if you have several.
if blue+white/blue doesn't work,
try orange+white/orange
then green+white/green
and finally brown+white/brown.
if none of these combinations work, check if the line is properly connected at the arrival in the apartment.
and ... There you go! -
Hello everyone,
Indeed, Brupala was right.
The wires to connect in 1 and 3 are respectively blue and white/blue.
Thank you very much!!
Problem solved.-
HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR THE FORUM. I also have the same problem. I have 4 wires at the F.T. arrival: gray, white, blue, and a transparent one. I tried the gray in 1 and the white in 3, it didn't work. Then I tried the blue in 1 and the white in 3, it still doesn't work. But when Brupala says that I need to connect the blue + white/blue, I admit that I don't understand. Could you be more explicit? Thank you for your responses.
- Hi,
There is no blue/blue-white on this type of cable.
Only 2 pairs:
White/gray
Blue/colorless
If neither of the two pairs work on 1/3
Check with your ISP to send someone.
But you should have asked your question by starting a new discussion, because we were talking about 4-pair cables from the beginning.
So you are off-topic.

Hello,
You don't have a white and gray wire because it's not a telephone cable; it's an Ethernet cable. -
Hello,
Call the customer service if you just acquired your Freebox. Tell them you have a connection problem between their installation and the wall socket. They should send someone over (it worked with Orange for me, so why not with Free...).

It looks like an RJ45 plug and there are two wiring schemes, type A and type B; you need to choose type B.
It's a cable used for RJ45; if they used this cable for a phone socket, you need to test the wires with a voltmeter. Normally, if I remember correctly, we should have 53 volts, prioritizing the brown and white-brown wires.
I am an electrician by trade, but it's been a long time since I've practiced.

Hi,
The phone is normally on the blue/white-blue as brupala said (and not on the brown), the orange/white-orange can be used eventually for a second line.
In case of a second line, it's advisable to use the T568A wiring scheme and not T568B. (T568B is rather used for Ethernet and ISDN, although the T568A type is also suitable)
