Hello
Well, everything is in the title I think :P

I have a problem with Photoshop. When I save a file in psd, it saves as a gimp file^^ I don't know how that happened. If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful :D

Thanks in advance

    Hello

Impossible, Photoshop cannot save in GIMP format (xcf) :)

Simply in GIMP associations, by installing it you forced it to open PSD files instead of Photoshop ;)

Right-click on a PSD, open with, choose the default program and select Photoshop for PSD files again

P.S.: You probably already have the psd extension, it's just that you've hidden known extensions

Lu baluze, my poor sir, you know I’ve been stuck on Windows XP and Photoshop CS2, like a Cro-Magnon, I don’t even have a Facebook, which is something I learned recently... lol.
More seriously, I should have replied to the right-click option because this relatively minor mishap happened to me after a formatting, which I have mastered. Because a good newbie in computing never restores his system, never does defragmentation, and above all, never makes a backup disk. What could be more normal than spending a whole day looking for the XP CD, formatting (NTFS.... right?), searching for all the drivers, reinstalling all the software, and the Windows updates.... right now I don’t know what to do with my day, a little NTFS is necessary.

      Have a good day... lol.

      Hi ghost187

      No problem ;)

I think that when she opened her PSD with Gimp for the first time, she must have answered yes to the question "Do you want to use Gimp to open PSD files?"
I can only think of that.

Thank you very much Baluze! Indeed, that was the problem ^^
      Thanks everyone for your help!

    Good evening,

This is a first, saving in PSD and ending up with a different format. Could we get a screenshot of how you save and the result?
And can you reopen this document with Photoshop afterwards?

Yes, I can open it normally as if it were a PSD.
To save, I simply click on save and I’ve checked 3 times if it was indeed a Photoshop file ^^

      Here are two screenshots

In the file name (recording) add the extension ".psd" to see.

      no, still not :/
I really don't understand how that happened.
Well, a few days ago, I tried to help a friend because his psd file wouldn't open. I tried to open it with Paint Tool SAI, that didn't work, then I tried with GIMP. And since then, it saves in GIMP ...

Do "Save As" and make sure to choose the indicated format: PSD.

PNG is not a GIMP format; it is a standard format that all photo software should be able to open.

It's what she's doing, look at the screen. It's simply a conflict between Photoshop and GIMP. You need to right-click on the file and specify that this type of file should be opened with Photoshop because this type of file is opened "by default" with GIMP.
