PS3 no longer reads games. Solved/Closed

Hello,

Today, I wanted to play GTA4 but when I inserted the disc, nothing happened at all, there wasn't even the game icon that appeared. I tried with another one and it didn't work either. I restarted my PS3 several times and it still didn't work, so I tried with a PS2 game and there, the game launched directly, without any problems, and even when I insert a DVD it launches directly as well.
Is there anyone who could help me?

Gattoo's Solution: Member on CCM

1- Start the PS3, remove the game, and turn it off again. Turn it back on, go to Settings > System Settings > Default Settings. If this first solution doesn't work, try the second one.
2- There should be no games in the drive or any other disc, it needs to be in standby (red LED). Press and hold the On/Off button, you'll hear a first beep, a second, and then a DOUBLE beep. If the beep is not double, repeat the operation until it is. Once that's done, you'll enter a menu. Choose the 3rd option. Then follow the instructions.

Normally, it should work again; if not, try again and take the 5th option.
If it still doesn't work: Your Play is dead!

No, that's not it. I had the same problem. You need to take apart your PlayStation and go to the part where the CD drive is. Then, take apart the tray and clean the lens with a cotton swab and alcohol. It'll work, trust me, because if your PlayStation were dead, it wouldn't read any CDs, but it reads PS2 games. It was the same problem I had. In any case, it worked for me, so give it a try and keep me updated.

Well, I had the same problem; my PS3 wouldn't read certain games (no game icon, the little noise suggesting it's ejecting the game, etc.). I tried all the methods mentioned here, up to solution 5 (for nothing) with no results... However, when I had to reset the PS3, I noticed a little option "automatic disc startup" (enabled)... later I disabled it and it fixed the problem for me.

I also had this breakdown some time ago on my first generation PS3 Fat, I have the impression that all PS3s go through it sooner or later...
